Global Poker Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Global Poker Awards are an award ceremony for poker players and officials. After the European Poker Awards were presented once a year from 2001 to 2016 and the American Poker Awards from 2015 to 2018 , a joint presentation has been held annually since 2019 under the name Global Poker Awards .

history

The Poker Awards are organized by the Global Poker Index . At the award ceremony, poker players and poker officials are honored in different categories for their achievements over the past year. The European Poker Awards were first given in 2001, with five players receiving an award. The Player of the Year award always goes to the player who has collected the most points in the Global Poker Index in the past year . The last European Poker Awards ceremony took place in 2016.

The American Poker Awards were first presented in Beverly Hills in late February 2015 . Until 2017, the event was moderated by Kara Scott , who herself was named Poker Presenter of the Year at the event in February 2016 . At the last American Poker Awards in February 2018, Scott was represented by Lynn Gilmartin due to her pregnancy .

On April 5, 2019, the first Global Poker Awards ceremony took place in cooperation with Poker Central , at which the European and American Poker Awards were combined.
