Samuel L. Casey

Samuel Lewis Casey ( February 12, 1821 in Caseyville , Union County , Kentucky , †  August 25, 1902 in Saint Joseph , Missouri ) was an American politician . In 1862 and 1863 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Samuel Casey attended public schools in his home country. He then worked in trade and politics. From April 4, 1853 to December 22, 1859 he held the post of Treasurer of the United States in the US Treasury Department . Between 1860 and 1862 he was an MP in the Kentucky House of Representatives . After the exclusion of Henry Cornelius Burnett , who had openly campaigned for the Confederate cause in Congress , Casey was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he would be March 10, 1862, as a unionist in the first constituency of Kentucky took up a new mandate.

By March 3, 1863, Casey ended the current legislative period of his predecessor. This was shaped by the events of the civil war . After the end of his short time in the US House of Representatives, he withdrew from politics and devoted himself to his private affairs. Samuel Casey died in Saint Joseph on August 25, 1902.
