Career

Thomas Massie grew up in Vanceburg, Kentucky. He studied electrical and civil engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) until 1996 . In 1993, while still at MIT, he and his wife, with whom he now has four children, founded SensAble Devices Inc. After the resignation of MP Geoff Davis , Massie was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the by-election due for the fourth seat of Kentucky , where he took up his new mandate on November 6, 2012. At the same time he was also at the regular congressional elections of 2012 for the next legislative period in the Congress elected. After two further re-elections in 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.

During the COVID-19 pandemic , Massie came under pressure from members of the two major parties as well as President Donald Trump after using a loophole in the law to force a roll-call vote in Congress in March 2020 for the 216 MPs out of all Had to travel to parts of the country and thereby expose themselves to the risk of infection with the virus, although the rescue package for the US economy was almost unanimously supported by both parties.
