Sar-i Pul (or Sar-e Pol ; Pashto / Dari :سرپل) is a province ( velayat ) in northern Afghanistan .

It borders the provinces of Juzjan , Balkh , Samangan , Bamiyan , Ghor and Faryab (clockwise, starting in the north). The province was founded in 1988. It has an area of ​​15,999 km², of which about 85% is mountainous land. The population was 514,500 in 2007/2008. The capital of the province is the city of the same name, Sar-i Pul, in the north .
