The Schollenmoos nature reserve with the central moor core

The Schollenmoos nature reserve is located in the Weilheim-Schongau district in Upper Bavaria in the area of the municipality of Pähl .

The 18.78 hectare area with the number NSG-00054.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1950 , extends northeast of Kerschlach , a district of Pähl. The B 2 runs southeast of the area and the 8.3 hectare nature reserve Flachtenbergmoor extends to the southwest .

The raised bog has a bog core whose water balance is still intact. Such a living raised bog continues to form peat. Characteristic for the moor is the rare occurrence of water-filled depressions - so-called Schlenken - and the occurrence of cotton grass .
