The transmitter Kulpenberg is a 1959 to 1964 on the in Kyffhaeuser mountains in the district Steinthaleben located Kulpenberg ( 473.4  m above sea level.  NN high erected) 94 meters telecommunications tower . During the GDR era, the Kulpenberg transmitter had a tower restaurant with 74 seats at a height of 78 meters . It was designed primarily as a relay station between the Petersberg station (north of Halle (Saale) ) and the Brocken and Inselsberg transmitter . During the GDR era, around 200,000 tourists visited the tower every year.

Today the Kulpenberg television tower is operated by Deutsche Funkturm GmbH , a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom . The company premises and the transmitter itself are no longer accessible to the public.
