Soundgarden Festival
The Soundgarden Festival is a music festival in Friedberg (Hessen) (2000–2009) or Bad Nauheim (since 2011), which has existed in its current form since 2000.
It was brought into being by young people who wanted to keep the tradition of the Friedberg Castle Festival alive. The concert was named after the Friedberger Burggarten , which served as the venue for the first six years.

The Soundgarden Festival was originally created as a short-term replacement event for the Friedberger Burgfest , which could no longer take place in 2000 after the city of Friedberg had finally withdrawn from the funding. With a shortened concept, the festival, organized on a voluntary basis, presented newcomer bands from the indie scene to an audience of 200 on its debut .
In the following years, organizers were found again to continue the format. After initial successes (2001: 1500 visitors, 2002: 2500 spectators) the festival has established itself as a regular event.
In terms of organization, the Soundgarden Festival and the former Friedberger Burgfest only have the formal sponsorship of the Friedberg City Youth Association in common. With the transition from Burgfest to Soundgarden, a generational change in the organizing team took place, which is also noticeable in the program design. In addition, the Soundgarden Festival has so far had to make do with a smaller financial framework, which has so far prevented the placement of international artists in the program.
The concept of the festival combines the maintenance of the regional cultural scene with nationally known headliners such as Juli , last instance or Knorkator and concentrates (with a few exceptions) on German acts. Two stages have been used since 2001; Since 2006, the castle grounds are no longer available as the original venue due to renovation work, which is why the concert was initially relocated to the nearby Seewiese and is held there in and around a circus tent. After no festival could take place in 2010, the venue was relocated to Goldsteinpark in Bad Nauheim in 2011 .
In addition to the festival itself, the Soundgarden Festival also offers small events with regional and national artists. Lineup release parties and band contests have already been held under the direction of Soundgarden AG.
