Zwierschitz began his career at SC Sommerein . Between 2002 and 2003 he played for ASK Mannersdorf before returning to Sommerein. For the 2004/05 season he came to AKA St. Pölten , where he went through all age groups until 2009. For the 2009/10 season he moved to the second division SKN St. Pölten . At St. Pölten he first played for the amateurs in the national league . In September 2009 he made his debut for the professionals in the second division when he was in the starting line-up on matchday nine of that season against the second team of FK Austria Vienna . He scored his first goal in the second division in March 2010 in a 3-2 win against FC Gratkorn . In his first season as a professional he came to 18 appearances in the league for the SKN, in which he scored one goal. In the following season Zwierschitz completed 32 games and remained without a goal. In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons he did not miss a single league game for the Lower Austrians.

For the 2013/14 season he moved to Bundesliga club FC Admira Wacker Mödling . He made his Bundesliga debut in July 2013 when he played against FK Austria Wien on the first day of that season. He scored his first goal in the Bundesliga in March 2014 in a 2-2 draw against SV Ried . In his first season with Admira, he came due to injury to only 16 appearances in the league in which he scored a goal. In the 2014/15 season, he played 29 games in the Bundesliga and scored four goals. In the 2015/16 season he played 30 games in the Bundesliga, in which he scored two goals. With Admira he finished fourth in the table at the end of the season and thus qualified for qualification for the UEFA Europa League . In June 2016, Zwierschitz played his first international game in the first round first leg against TJ Spartak Myjava . In the second leg against Myjava, he also scored his first goal in an international game. With the Admira he failed in qualifying in the third round to Slovan Liberec . In the league he made 35 appearances in the 2016/17 season, in which he scored two goals.

In the 2017/18 season he qualified for the Europa League qualification again with Admira as fifth in the final table. You got in in the second round and failed there at CSKA Sofia . Zwierschitz led Admira as captain on the field in both games. In the league he came to 28 appearances in the 2018/19 season, in which he scored four goals; with Admira, however, he only secured relegation one round before the end, he finished the season with the club in tenth place in the table. After the 2018/19 season, he left Admira and switched to league rivals FK Austria Wien, with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2021.

National team

Zwierschitz made his debut against Denmark in May 2011 for the Austrian U-21 team , for which he played three games until August 2011.
