Stephen Bullock

Stephen Bullock (born October 10, 1735 in Rehoboth , Bristol County , Province of Massachusetts Bay , †  February 2, 1816 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1797 and 1799 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Stephen Bullock grew up during the British colonial era. He attended the public schools in his home country and then taught as a teacher. He joined the American Revolution in the 1770s and served in the Continental Army during the War of Independence . In 1780 he was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Massachusetts Constitution . Between 1783 and 1796 he sat several times as a member of the House of Representatives from Massachusetts . Politically, he became a member of the Federalist Party founded by Alexander Hamilton in the late 1790s .

In the congressional elections of 1796 , Bullock was elected in the seventh constituency of Massachusetts to the US House of Representatives, which was then still in Philadelphia , where he succeeded George Leonard on March 4, 1797 . Until March 3, 1799 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Bullock served as an appellate judge in Bristol County. Between 1803 and 1805 he was a member of the governor's advisory board . Stephen Bullock died on February 2, 1816 in his hometown of Rehoboth.
