Terrell Lamar Davis (* 28. October 1972 in San Diego , California ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played for the Denver Broncos in the National Football League (NFL) from 1995 to 2001 .

Davis is considered one of the best running backs of the 1990s, and is a member of the National Football League 1990s All-Decade Team . He won the Super Bowl twice in a row with the Broncos ( XXXII , XXXIII ) and was voted Super Bowl MVP after the first . Davis played in the Pro Bowl three times (1996, 1997, 1998), was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year (1996, 1998) twice and NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1998 . He has been a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame since 2017 .

Terrell Davis' nickname is "TD" (the same abbreviation is used for touchdown ). His trademark was the "Mile High Salute", a military-style gesture to the fans in celebration of a touchdown.

Professional career

After his college years at the University of Georgia , Davis was selected in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos under Head Coach Mike Shanahan . Despite his late draft position, Davis managed to convince the team in preparation. In his first season in 1995, he became a starter in the running back position with the Broncos. He ran 1,117 yards in his rookie season and received a lucrative 5-year contract from his team at the end of the season.

Davis ran from 1996 to 1998 over 1,500 yards in every season, with 1998 he set up with 2,008 yards, the third-best season value in the history of the NFL. In the Super Bowl of the 1997 season against the Green Bay Packers , he presented three touchdowns a new record and became the Super Bowl MVP elected. The Broncos with quarterback John Elway finally won their first Super Bowl title after four unsuccessful attempts. The title was successfully defended against the Atlanta Falcons in the 1998 season .

From 1999 Davis was increasingly plagued by injuries and finally had to end his career in 2002. In seven seasons, Davis scored a total of 7,607 yards in running play and 65 touchdowns . After his playing career, Davis began a career as a television analyst for the NFL Network .

Honors

Terrell Davis is a member of the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame . In 2017, the NFL inducted him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .
