Randall "Randy" Lee White (* 15. January 1953 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is a former American American football player . He played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Dallas Cowboys .

Player career

College career

Randy White was born to Guy and LaVerne White. He was the oldest of three brothers attended in Wilmington , Delaware , the high school and played in the local football team as a fullback . From 1972 to 1974 he studied at the University of Maryland and was the coach of the football team of Colleges for defensive tackle retrained. In 1973 he was able to move into the Peach Bowl with his team . The game was lost to the University of Georgia 17:16. The following year, his college team won the Atlantic Coast Conference and moved into the Liberty Bowl. White could not win this game with his team either. The University of Tennessee prevailed 7-3.

White has been voted All-American twice . In 1974 he won the election for the best defensive line player in college football. He also received the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Award .

Professional career

Randy White was drafted second in the first round in 1975 by the Dallas Cowboys . The cowboys were trained by Tom Landry , who was considered an expert in defense strategies. The cowboys defense were among the best in the NFL. The defense of the cowboys was supervised by the member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Ernie Stautner , who was previously active as a defensive tackle with the Pittsburgh Steelers . It included all-star players like Ed "Too Tall" Jones , Rayfield Wright , Mel Renfro and Cliff Harris . In his first two years he was only used once as a starter . 1975, in White's rookie year , the Cowboys were able to move into the Super Bowl , where they had to admit defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers 21:17. From the 1977 season, White was able to establish himself as a starter with the Cowboys. In the same year he moved with the team from Dallas in Super Bowl XII one. In the Super Bowl, the Denver Broncos could be beaten with 27:10. White showed an outstanding game. He could always put the opposing quarterback under pressure and force them to make mistakes. He succeeded once the playmaker the Broncos behind the line of scrimmage to case to bring. Together with his teammate Harvey Martin , he was voted Super Bowl MVP because of his performance .

Although in the following years the cowboys could move into the play-offs again and again , they were denied participation in another Super Bowl during White's career. Like his longtime coach Tom Landry, White retired from football in 1988.

Honors

White played nine times in the Pro Bowl , the final game of the best players of the season. He was voted All-Pro nine times . He is a member of the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team , the Pro Football Hall of Fame , the Texas Sports Hall of Fame , in the College Football Hall of Fame , in the Hall of Fame his college and is on the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor immortalized. His nickname is a synonym for his powerful style of play and arose from a combination of "Man" and "Monster" .

After the career

Randy White ran a restaurant in Frisco , Texas until 2014 . He is married and has a daughter.
