Timothy "Tim" Regan (born February 6, 1974 in Dorchester , Massachusetts ) is a former American - German ice hockey player and current coach. He has been an assistant trainer at ERC Ingolstadt since 2018 .

Career

As a player

Regan began his career in 1992 playing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association , where he went on the ice for the team at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute . After four successful seasons, the winger moved to Germany for the 1996/97 season at EHC Klostersee in the 1st League South. There the striker was top scorer straight away and was involved in half of all goals scored. After the season, the right-shooter moved within the league to SC Riessersee to leave them after the season in the direction of EC Bad Nauheim . After this year in the Bundesliga, however, Regan came back to the Zugspitze and completed three seasons for Garmisch.

Due to financial problems at SC Riessersee, the right-wing shooter left the club in 2002 and initially joined HC Innsbruck in the 2002/03 season . During the season, however, Regan moved back to Germany, this time to EC Bad Tölz . In 2003 Regan returned to SC Riessersee again, but had to leave the club again because the club's license was withdrawn. After a short guest appearance in the AL-Bank Ligaen at Esbjerg IK , the left winger came to the second division Heilbronner Falken , which he in turn left after the season in the direction of Bad Tölz.

For the 2005/06 season Regan finally moved to the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , for which he ran up until 2009. After the season he moved back to SC Riessersee for family reasons.

In the summer of 2011, Regan's whereabouts at SCR were uncertain, as Regan had completed a degree in finance and business management before coming to Germany and after winning the championship in 2011, accepted a job offer from BayernLB . Due to the bank's hiring freeze, Regan's contract only lasted until the end of August 2011 and was not renewed. Thus, the Regan started another season at SC Riessersee in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga.

In August 2011, Regan, Josef Staltmayr , Florian Vollmer and Leonhard Wild were appointed interim coaches after Marcus Bleicher resigned from his position with immediate effect and no new head coach had yet been signed.

As a trainer

After ending his active career in April 2015, he became the new head coach at SC Riessersee for the 2015/16 season . In the 2017/18 season he was sports director at SC Riessersee , and since 2018 he has been assistant trainer and assistant to the sports director at ERC Ingolstadt .
