When the Indonesians invaded East Timor in 1975, many places were evacuated. Uaitame was also deserted when the Indonesian troops reached the place. Later the people returned. On January 9, 1979, all 600 residents of Sucos were forcibly relocated to Mulia ( Laga administrative office ) by the Indonesian occupying forces . It was feared that the villages that were close to the forests could support the FALINTIL . The old houses were burned down after the evacuation, fields were destroyed and the cattle were killed. Several residents were injured. Under heavy guard, the residents were brought to Mulia on trucks via the resettlement camp in Quelicai. In Mulia there was a lack of houses, beds, food and clothes. 250 people died of hunger and disease.
