description

The Nymphaea nouchali with white flowers

Only gold and ocher (shade of gold) are used as colors for the round coat of arms . These colors symbolize the " Golden Bengal ".

Inside a circle is the stylized representation of a white star water lily ( Nymphaea nouchali ), the national flower .

Above the water lily flower four five-pointed stars can be seen, as well as leaves of the jute tree , on each side a rice ear .

The four stars represent the four basic principles originally enshrined in the first constitution of Bangladesh in 1972:

  1. nationalism
  2. democracy
  3. socialism
  4. Secularism .

The wavy lines represent abundance of water and the rivers Ganges and Brahmaputra .
