The coat of arms of the United Arab Emirates was adopted in 1973 and slightly changed in 2008.

description

The coat of arms shows a golden falcon with white feathers, which until 2008 had a red disc on its chest on which a dhow was depicted on blue and black wavy lines. The disk was surrounded by a silver, sixteen-link chain.

Since 2008 the disc has contained the national flag .

The disc is now surrounded by a silver ring with seven five-pointed stars. In its claws the falcon holds a red banner with the state's name on itالإمارات العربية المتحدة / al-Imārāt al-ʿarabīya al-muttaḥida is written.

The dhow stands for the country's maritime tradition and can also be found in the national coats of arms of Qatar and Kuwait . The Quraish falcon is a symbol of the Koreishite tribe , to which the Prophet Mohammed belonged, and can also be found in many coats of arms of the Arabian Peninsula.
