The coat of arms of the Sultanate of Oman consists of a handshare (Arabic curved dagger ) in a scabbard, which is superimposed on two crossed curved swords. This is the traditional symbol of the Said dynasty, which has ruled Oman since 1746 . It can be found on numerous flags , including on the jack of the national flag and in the center of the sultan's standard, on the currency since 1940 , on postage stamps since 1966 , as well as on the aircraft of the Omani Air Force and in other places. In Oman, the coat of arms is also worn as a piece of jewelry on necklaces.
