Oberhausen water tower

The water tower Oberhausen is a water tower on Mülheimer Straße 1 in Oberhausen . It was built with bricks in 1897 by Gutehoffnungshütte (GHH) as the GHH needed a replacement for its demolished water towers on Obere Marktstrasse . The water was pumped into the approx. 50 m high tower via three pressure lines and stored there in an elevated tank of the Intze type with a capacity of 1000 m³. In 1947 the damage caused by the Second World War was repaired. In 1965, the smelters Oberhausen Aktiengesellschaft (HOAG) and was RWTH Wasserwerksgesellschaft (RWW) powered water tower taken out of service and is available since March 13, 1985 under monument protection . Today it is used by a surveying office as a living or working space.
