West Mineral is a city in Cherokee County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 154.[3] It is the home of Big Brutus, the second largest electric shovel in the world.

History[edit]

West Mineral was named from the coal mines found there.[4][5] A post office was established in West Mineral in 1899.[6]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.34 square miles (0.88 km2), all land.[7]
