Their self titled debut album was released in March 2005 on the [[Durham]] based inde label [[Captains of Industry]]. When they were all 20, The Sound Explosion co-headlined The [[Nokia]] New School Of Rock Tour with [[The Answer (band)|The Answer]] and [[The Tokyo Dragons]]. The band have also toured with [[The Datsuns]], [[Hell Is For Heroes]], [[The Mooney Suzuki]], [[International Noise Conspiracy]], [[Million Dead]], [[The 5678's]] and The Glitterati.

Early 2005 brought a headline tour, a pilgrimage to [[Dublin]], a brainstorming session with [[Gordon Raphael]] who recorded the B-side to Apollo entitled Let It Turn Inside Itself), lots of positive reviews from the press and a nasty bite from the ''[[NME]]''. After releasing their debut single "Apollo" in November, The Sound Explosion signed to Red Ink, [[Sony]] in January, and completed recording their second album with [[Paul Reeve]] in October.

The Sound Explosion is a Greek garage rock revival band formed in 1991 in Athens, Greece. Its line up is John Alexopoulos (vocals, 6 and 12 string Vox guitar, harmonica), Dimitrios Dimopoulos (Bass guitar, backing vocals), Stelios Askoxylakis (Farfisa organ, backing vocals) and Stavros Daktylas (drums, tambourine). The group has played several concerts in Greece alongside other bands such as The Fuzztones, Dead Moon, Sick Rose, Cynics, the Others, the Marshmallow Overcoat, and more. The band went on a hiatus in 1997, during which time the members played separately in different acts, before reuniting in the early 2000s to perform live once again. In early 2018 the group partnered with Lost in Tyme Records to release their sophomore album, The explosive Sounds of... The Sound Explosion, marking their first new material in nearly 24 years.[1]
