Relaxed lifestyle in Roxboro

Roxboro (pop. 6000) is a neighbourhood in the north-west part Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was a separate town until 2002, when it joined with Dollard-des-Ormeaux as a borough to form the new city of Montreal. Roxboro, along with Pierrefonds did not choose to demerge on June 20, 2004, because the city had complete the borough as Pierrefonds-Roxboro on January 1, 2006, of which it is still part of. However, Dollard-des-Ormeaux demerged from the city of Montreal that time.

Residents prize the community for its excellent services, centred on Centre-Commercial Street and ethnic shops and restaurants nearby, as well as the quiet, relaxed lifestyle and an easy train commute (26 minutes to downtown Montreal) from Roxboro-Pierrefonds station.

The town has one nature park (ile Roxboro), two elementary schools (Lalande, French; Charles A. Kirkland(closed as of June 2006), English; and Socrates, Greek) as well as a small library (William H. Boll). It also contains a fire station, which runs a pumper truck. This station formerly housed the Roxboro Volunteer Fire Brigade, and is now Station 58 of the Service de Sécurité Incendie de Montréal.

The former Roxboro City Hall currently houses the Fire Prevention officers for Division 11, as well as a brand new borough point of service for the Roxboro section of the borough.
