The Meduso-Anthropic Principle is a speculative hypothesis by Louis Crane (1994). The theory develops cosmological natural selection by leading Cosmologist Lee Smolin and suggests the development of the universe is similar to the development of Corals and Jellyfish. The Medusa generations alternate with Polyp generations. Similarly it is suggested, the Universe develops Intelligent life and Intelligent life produces new Baby universes. Our universe may also exist as a Black hole in a Parallel universe. Extraterrestrial life there may have created that black hole.
Why civilizations may create black holes
Crane suggests that Successful industrial civilizations will eventually create black holes. He believes that civilizations will both want to create black holes and be able to create black holes. Civilizations according to Crane may want to create black holes for scientific research. After the hydrogen of the universe is exhausted Civilizations may need to create black holes in order to survive. Hawking radiation from black holes would provide the energy enabling civilizations to continue living when other energy sources are exhausted. Artificial black holes would need to be very small and carefully managed.
There is no reason to assume that an advanced civilization would wait till the energy of its universe is exhausted before making black holes to generate energy provided the technology is feasible and Cost effective.
How civilizations may create black holes
Crane suggests continuously firing Lasers at the same point could theoretically create a black hole with temperature related to the frequency of the laser light or other Electromagnetic radiation used. Fermionic matter could theoretically create black holes. Cylinders could be fired at each other at Relativistic speeds. The cylinders would experience Length contraction and multiplication of their Rest masses. Crane envisages civilizations able to harness Star systems to providing energy for giant machines.
Philosophical implications
Crane believes that philosophers have been correct when they felt that Humans have some purpose. According to Crane mind and matter are linked. Universes of matter produce intelligence. Intelligent entities produce new universes.
