Blessed Zdenka Cecília Schelingová (b. December 24 1916, Krivá na Orave - d. July 31 1955, Trnava) was a Slovak nun of the Order of the Charitable Sisters of the Holy Cross and a victim of communist persecution in the former Czechoslovakia.

She was sentenced in 1952 to twelve (12) years imprisonment for treason in a fabricated case. [citation needed] She was tortured in prison, which took a great toll on her health. [1]

As a result of her poor health, she was released early from prison in April 1955 but it was too late; she died, aged 38, later that year as a result of the injuries she suffered.

Beatification

She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
