Poplar is a station on the Docklands Light Railway in Travelcard Zone 2. It is a served by four of the five routes of the DLR. Thus it is the busiest station on the network in terms of services.

History

Poplar was opened on 21 August 1987. Long before then, there had been two stations with the same name. However, neither was near the site of the current station.

The location of these two stations can be seen in the bottom-right hand corner of the Map of Poplar, 1885, referred to under External links.

Connections

Poplar serves a junction in four directions:

The central depot for the DLR is situated next to Poplar station and is accessed through a pair of tracks just east of Poplar. These feature the tightest curves in operation on the railway.
