Concerning the article covering the Battle of Coleto

Hello Karanacs. Firstly, I would like to congratulate you for your excellent work on improving articles concerned with the Texas Revolution. Thanks to you, many articles about that have been substantially improved.

I just wanted to inform you, since I have noticed you have made some changes to it, that I have not stopped my work on expanding the Battle of Coleto article. I have just been focusing on smaller Wikiprojects lately. In fact, like you, I have just submitted a self-nominated article for DYK consideration. I will get back to work on the Coleto article very soon. EasyPeasy21 (talk) 20:24, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent!! I'm aiming for a future Featured Topic on Battles of the Texas Revolution (1.5 articles down, 10 to go), and I think it would not be that hard to make Goliad Campaign a Featured Topic as well (with Battle of Coleto, Battle of Agua Dulce, Battle of San Patricio, Battle of Refugio and a separate article to be created on the Goliad Massacre). My goal is to get all of the articles on the 1835 battles as well as the Battle of the Alamo to FA status by the end of the year, and then I was going to move on to the 1836 battles. If you need any reference material or any other assistance in improving Coleto let me know - I'd be happy to collaborate. Karanacs (talk) 20:33, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your offer to help. I would be unwise to decline the assistance of someone who, judging from the sources used for articles you have significantly contributed to, has a deep knowledge of the Texas Revolution. I don't have a wide range of literature regarding it, so I would welcome any edits you make to the Coleto article. I will also try to help out with other Texas Revolution articles. btw, excellent work thus far on the Battle of the Alamo article. Do you plan to work on significantly improving the main Texas Revolution article, out of curiousity? EasyPeasy21 (talk) 23:21, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My local librarians know me by name now ;) This is a fun hobby. I'd love to see Texas Revolution improved, but it scares me a bit because it is so big. Perhaps after the battle articles are all finished. I've already got a list of several books that would be useful for the Goliad Campaign. Perhaps when I get to them I can post my notes somewhere central and we can both work on incorporating the info? It will probably be months before I get to those - Alamo still has a long way to go (and I welcome any and all help with it or the others!). Karanacs (talk) 01:36, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thank you

Thank you!
Karanacs, it is with deep awareness of the responsibility conferred by your trust that I am honored to report that in part to your support, my request for adminship passed (87/14/6). I deeply value the trust you and the Wikipedia community have in me, and I will embark on a new segment of my Wikipedia career by putting my new tools to work to benefit the entire community. My best to you, Happyme22 (talk) 03:11, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BSA input needed

Your inputs at the BSA FAC have been very helpful in improving the article. Thanks. User:Gadget850 has addressed all your concerns except the origins section. Please review and update the FAC. As for the the origins, we're not sure how to do it without making it excessively long and giving it undue weight for the BSA article. There is a separate history article on the history of the BSA which is rather detailed. Could you also provide more input on what you're looking for? Either the FAC on BSA or Talk:Boy Scouts of America would be fine. Thanks. RlevseTalk 11:28, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yay

Kee kee. I'm in an edit summary. --Moni3 (talk) 13:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was only fair, since you are the Queen of Edit Summaries, that you be immortalized in one ;) Karanacs (talk) 13:51, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my God. I'm a proper noun and everything, capitalization to boot! (Though "Queen of the Silver Dollar" is ringing through my head...tell me you know the song, or I will remove the "Country Music fan" userbox from your userpage.) --Moni3 (talk) 14:32, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I never was a big fan of Emmylou Harris, so, no, I don't know the song, but I looked up the lyrics just for you. (Of female country singers in that time period, I love Dolly Parton best.) Karanacs (talk) 15:09, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dave and Sugar did a better version. Download it. (How do I come off as a country music aficionado? I surprise myself.) And how does one not like Emmylou Harris? I'm not sure that's physically possible. That trio she did with Dolly and Linda Ronstadt was awesome. There's a video clip on youtube of Dolly and Bette Midler singing. Also awesome. --Moni3 (talk) 15:34, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Shannaswendson4x.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 09:43, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Everglades Barnstar

The Everglades Barnstar
"It's curious that the ignorance about the Everglades has persisted all these years"Marjory Stoneman Douglas, 1987. Thank you, Karanacs, for helping in our small wiki-corner, to right that wrong. Your work on the FA Team, particularly the helpful comments during the FAC process, are very appreciated. Please accept this limited-edition barnstar as a token of my gratitude. --Moni3 (talk) 12:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well wishes

Saw your note; I hope all is well. Best regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:57, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise. Hope things work out well. Ealdgyth - Talk 15:10, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to both of you. I'm none too happy with real life at the moment. My dad was very unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer Monday, so that means lots of praying, lots of time at the hospital, and lots of questions. We'll be fine, but good wishes are always much appreciated :) Karanacs (talk) 15:17, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
oh, Karen, I am so sorry. Good wishes and I will add you and your family to my prayers. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:20, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thinking of you and your father, Karanacs. Best wishes to your family. Come back when you can. --Moni3 (talk) 15:21, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh. That's always a hard blow. Take care of yourself and your family first! Your family is in my prayers. Ealdgyth - Talk 15:22, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Karen, I juggled around the Dispatch dates to allow another week for your TFA/R (putting Elcobbola tutorial image into the 11th instead). Hang in there, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:19, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So sorry to hear this! Let us know if we can do anything to help you. Awadewit (talk) 12:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Let me add my condolences to the above. Please take your time with Candide. -- Rmrfstar (talk) 20:29, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Karanacs, how is your father doing? (And how are *you* doing?) Thinking of you and your family, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:54, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Sandy, for being concerned. I'm in a much better frame of mind this week :) Dad had surgery last week and is back at home now. He's got a series of tests scheduled to see if the cancer has spread and/or if he'll need further treatment for the original tumor. So far the doctors are "cautiously optimstic". The well wishes from you and the others who posted here have really meant a lot. Karanacs (talk) 15:26, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We'll continue to keep you in our prayers, and our fingers crossed for you. Glad there is some good news. Ealdgyth - Talk 15:29, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome news; I hope things will continue to progress favorably, and I'm very happy your family has gotten optimistic news. All the best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:47, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Doing a happy dance with you !! In honor of (hopefully) your dad's generation ... with my best thoughts for you and your family. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just talked to my dad, and his doctor told him that his cancer is "cured"! No more treatment, just regular checkups to make sure it doesn't come back. There may be a few more tests in the next few weeks, but we can stop worrying quite so much right now. THANK YOU to all of you for your prayers and good wishes. Thanks for a fascinating article . It would be great if this could be linked somehow from WP:FACR, I am sure many others would find it interesting in future. Perhaps it could become a Wikipedia essay. GameKeeper (talk) 19:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Dispatches are all linked at WT:FAC. All of them contain useful information about the various featured content processes, so it probably wouldn't be right to just highlight one of them.. Karanacs (talk) 16:18, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments at this article's FAC, which I've hopefully dealt with. I didn't at first agree with your comment about the table format, but on reflection I came around to your way of thinking, and the article probably reads better as a result. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 17:20, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can have no idea what a relief it was to see your support—actually, you've probably got a very good idea. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 18:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You did an excellent job - I love reading about witches :) Karanacs (talk) 20:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So do I, and even more whacky subjects like this one. I always hope that getting an article through FA/GA gives a guide to others writing on similar topics. I have a couple of other witch articles on the back burner, but the sources aren't so good, so they'll probably always be quite short, GAs at best. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 20:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blue ribbon

Let's look at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Schools/Archive_13#If_a_school_meets_some_notability_requirements_but_needs_more_sources - I posted a link to this page at your userpage [1].

Anyway, one other poster seemed to say that if a school gets Blue Ribbon, it is deserving of its own article, even if there is little else to say.

  • Jh12: "To be fair, only about 5,600 out of over 133,000 eligible schools have ever received the Blue Ribbon Award, recognizing less than 4% of all US schools over a quarter of a century. About 0.2 percent of all schools are selected each year. Each state averages about 5 recipients per year, and the number is even lower when considering primary and secondary schools separately. One may not agree with the selection process, but imho the Blue Ribbon is more notable than any other award covering the United States"

You said: "There is really no information in the elementary school article that is not already in the ISD article, and you have provided no reliable sources to justify having an individual article on the elementary schools. " - The U.S. Government is a reliable source. That one reference apparently is all I need to say "it is notable," if Jh12's POV is to be applied.

Okay, so you may not agree with this concept; if so, please re-start this discussion on the Wikiproject talk page and refer to the old discussion. This issue needs to be discussed on the project talk page, if you wish to pursue this matter further. WhisperToMe (talk) 02:09, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is alright to have a discussion of sorts on this page, but at the same time it is also helpful to have the input of other editors. A third, or fourth, or fifth opinion would be great. Anyhow, for most schools a merge to the district article is justified. The issue is that the Blue Ribbon award is so prestigious that the school ought to get its own article, even if there are no other notable historical/cultural aspects.

Spring Branch ISD has countless other elementary schools, so we could easily fill the page (or an offshoot named "Spring Branch ISD elementary schools") with details about the schools that do not have Blue Ribbon awards. If it was a small district (with only three or four schools) a merge would be in order even if the schools pass all of the notability guidelines. WhisperToMe (talk) 02:19, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:2007 CMA Music Festival.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:2007 CMA Music Festival.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mentorship

Hi Karanacs; I thought over your kind offer to help during any mentorship of Ottava Rima, and I think your input would be an excellent. Jb has already indicated a willingness to help, but I see he will be travelling and busy IRL, and I think at this point it would be unfair to drag him into such a committment. I havn't spoken to Ottava in a few days, and he hasn't yet explicitly agreed to such an arrangement. Still, I'm only yet reading up on the process, but I have to say it does seem do-able, I also agree that Ottava has an ability worth making an effort for. He, it'll be interesting, at the very least.... Best. ( Ceoil sláinte 00:25, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've never been involved in any way with mentorship, so I may need to be guided as well. I've known a lot of people who communicate in a similar style to Ottava, so I at least understand where he's coming from (which doesn't mean I don't also get a bit frustrated at times). Let me know what help you need and I'll do my best. Karanacs (talk) 03:37, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About to be scarce...

And wanting to beg a favor from you. I've got three articles I'm hoping to bring to FAC after I get back (be about August 17 or so until I'm home and able to handle an FAC). They are Stigand, Go Man Go, and William de St-Calais. They've all been PR'd, and basically need good copyedits before I bring them before the slavering hordes at FAC. Can you look them over for jargon, etc, as well as fix my prose? It's not a "must do asap" but it'd help a bunch if they were looked at in the next couple of weeks or so. Ealdgyth - Talk 13:44, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! Sorry I hadn't gotten to Go Man Go yet. On top of everything else, we had to prep for an uninvited guest (which has now decided not to visit). Karanacs (talk) 14:07, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm SOOO glad I'm not in Houston anymore. I'll take blizzards any day over hurricanes. 19 years on the Gulf Coast was enough. And thank you, there is no hurry, they won't be able to go up until I get back mid-August. Ealdgyth - Talk 14:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gradison

  • In here, "Sir Walter Scott, who favored the bildungsroman and open plots, recounted a friend explaining why" needs to be changed. Flynn states: "An old lady of Sir Walter Scott's acquaintance explained why she enjoyed hearing Sir Charles Crandison read aloud:". Sir Walter Scott did not. Thus, the first quote was reattributed to Scott (its from Flynn), and the second as a "recounting" although it is directly from the unnamed old woman. I cannot edit this myself as it can be construed as problematic in 100s of ways.
  • This needs to restored. Versimilitude is a literary device in which an author passes off the work as the character's own. The original title of the novel is The History of Sir Charles Grandison: in a Series of Letters published from the Originals. the "series of letters published from the original" makes it Verisimilitude.
  • This is not grammatically correct. In the current form, it reads: "and, on the prompting of those like Johnson, dropped this framing device from the second edition." This is not an independent clause and would need a subject to make it so.
  • The line with "The psychological realism of Richardson's earlier work gives way to the expression of exemplars." must be dropped. It was added without sourcing to back it up. The phrase with Charles's somewhat pacifist method" needs to be returned to "peaceful" based on standard adjective usage. "Carol Flynn is not alone in finding" this is not verified by the paragraph. It is not about critical response, but about the difference between one character's "type" of goodness and another's. "Hagstrum p. 131"</ref>" Hagrstrum ref needs the quote removed.

Those are just the major problems that need to be address based on WP:V. Ottava Rima (talk) 13:38, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ottava, welcome back! I am not going to be editing articles for you. The goal is more to figure out how you can edit them effectively. We're in no hurry, so I'd recommend taking one point at a time (if you put too many issues out at once people can feel attacked and get overly defensive). Start with the first point (the misattributed information). Were I you, I'd place a note on the talk page with the appropriate passage quoted from the source (with page number) and your proposed text change. Then wait a day or two for feedback before making changes. I've got that article talk page watched now. Karanacs (talk) 13:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amber is the color of your energy

Okay, regardless of the 311 song title - I believe this ("I am the one that spoke at the media symposium and released the Amber alert,") should be taken to the CoI noticeboard. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:18, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know that song - I'll have to look for it. For now, I've reported the guy at the 3RR noticeboard and moved on to a different article. I hadn't thought about the COI noticeboard. If the 3RR stuff doesn't get his attention I'll try there. Thanks! Karanacs (talk) 18:22, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Amber (song). I've dealt with people like him quite a bit when performing BLP mediation. They tend to be very sensitive and worried that people may be "misinformed". Wikipedia is at the top of most search engines, so it tends to be a place to start. Most of the time, they need a comforting conversation, personal communication, and telling them that you want to help them inform others, but there are certain ways it has to be written, and that you would like them to share their information and you will help them conform that to an encyclopedia. 9/10 times that worked for me. 100% of the time, they just want to be heard. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like this may be a good partnership for both of us :) Karanacs (talk) 18:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can work with new people easily. Its the people who have been here for a while that I have difficulty with. :) I've already opened discussion directly with him. I'll try to work with him to convince him to follow standard encyclopedic language and referencing. Hopefully this will fix things quickly. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:35, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Ottava. I think your comments to him helped him to feel better and once I saw that it helped me find a better tack to take with him. Karanacs (talk) 20:22, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work, both of you. Refreshing to see a new editor (and a bizarre one even at that) not "blocked on sight". Barnstars all around (if I did that sort of thing). I'm going to unwatchlist Amber and the editor's talkpage (if you knew the unmanageability of my watchlist, you'd understand:-), please feel free to pop over to my talkpage if you want another set of eyes prior to going to ANI again. (if things go sour again, for example). Two models of patience! A good way to wind down my Friday...cheers! Keeper ǀ 76 20:28, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That makes me feel good. Its always nice to have things come together so nicely. It really seems to verify that all people really want to do is to be heard and have someone that honestly is willing to listen. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 21:50, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are two points at the Candide FAC that I would like to hear the other reviewers' thoughts on. I have listed them at the bottom of the FAC. Awadewit (talk) 16:48, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

August 18 Dispatch

Hey, Karanacs, are you still on for WP:TFA/R at Wikipedia:FCDW/August 18, 2008? Have to remember to explain why the page is needed (that there are more than 950 FAs that haven't run on the mainpage,[3] (that list is not accurate or updated), Raul got a lot of requests on his talk page, older system quickly grew to hundreds of entries,[4] impossible to sort through, tried five date requests plus unlimited other, still reached hundreds,[5] switched to five limit in Sept 2007 [6] merit-based point system put in place March 2008, [7], July 2008 gave community ability to remove/replace.[8] Also, needs to be FAQish because so many requestors appear there, confused about why there is a system and how to tally their points. Mention talk page pending template, 60 days in advance, to help clarify points. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:11, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, maybe link to User:Raul654/Featured article thoughts, and mention that he usually writes the blurbs himself, but appreciates the samples in case he's in a hurry (I think?). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:44, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have something ready in a few days. I need to wade back into the page and read what's been posted in the last two weeks. Karanacs (talk) 16:08, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

William Hanna FAC preps

I've taken this article from this to this, in preps for filing it for FAC. I could you some help now with:

  1. finding a free image of Hanna
  2. some good copyediting
  3. expanding the lead
and when that's done I'll unlink the repetitive links (things can change during ce, so I don't want to do now), then file for FAC.

Any help is greatly appreciated. RlevseTalk 02:48, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I have noticed that you have heretofore refrained from supporting Candide's FAC nom. Is there a specific reason you have not done so? Do you see any problems with the article? If the article can win your support with my efforts, I'd like to try... Thanks! -- Rmrfstar (talk) 16:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to get back to the article but I can't make any promises. My whole family (including me) is sick at the moment. Thank you for your hard work in improving the article, though. Karanacs (talk) 17:19, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please concern yourself with your family first. I don't want to put any extra pressure on you. The article isn't going anywhere... -- Rmrfstar (talk) 17:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alamo Defenders

Hello this is Lordoliver † I would like to stop this before it becomes an edit war, when I was adding redlinks, I was just trying to show that some of these other people did have articles. So I am going to redlink those that have articles and not mess with those that don't. Thank You So Much. —Preceding undated comment was added at 21:53, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello again,

I guess this was all a misunderstanding, when I put the a redlink on a name I was in the process of making an article for that person. --Lordoliver (talk) 14:03, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well a few of those people actually have stories in the Alamo and outside like James L. Allen, and Miles DeForrest Andross, Peter James Bailey III, and Cleveland Kinloch Simmons.--Lordoliver (talk) 15:56, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay that sounds fine, but do one thing for me leave James L. Allen, and Peter James Bailey III's articles they are inportant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lordoliver (talkcontribs) 16:08, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you do it for me I am swamped right now. (What about James L. Allen his article needs to stay also)--Lordoliver (talk) 16:15, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I think I'm done with adding information. Never know though, as I plow through my pile of books recieved while I was gone. Ealdgyth - Talk 14:54, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's such a fun feeling - new books! No worries, I'm being careful if I edit conflict to add in the new info that you're putting in. The article looks in pretty good shape, overall; feel free to revert me at will. Karanacs (talk) 14:56, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. You are careful with the sources, so no worries. As long as the sense is retained, I'm not that worried. I know I write wordily. (grins) Ealdgyth - Talk 14:59, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Chip Shop Award topic

Dear Administrator,

First of all, thank you for your quick answer.
You have deleted my Chip Shop Award site twice, with two different reasons:
• 13:19, 20 August 2008 Edgar181 (Talk | contribs) deleted "Chip Shop Awards" ‎ (A3: No meaningful, substantive content: contact Karanacs if you wish to discuss deletion)
• 15:49, 19 August 2008 Karanacs (Talk | contribs) deleted "Chip Shop Awards" ‎ (G12: Blatant copyright infringement) I’ve commented the copyright issue, than you came up with the “no meaningful content” note. Thank you for the critic anyway; I would like just mark that it is not easy to develop and make a site meaningful if you delete it twice a day.

For that matter I have found a lot of sites with almost the same content:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clio_awards
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannes_Lions

These awards are international advertising awards, just like the Chip Shop Awards (CSA). They attract professionals to enter the awards from all over the world, just like the CSA. I kindly ask you to specify the differences between these sites and the CSA, because I can’t really see.

Professional (marketing and advertising) magazines around the UK have written about CSA already. Our next gala is tomorrow in Edinburgh. We started an international “campaign” encouraging even more international entries to the award. The CSA is a unique ad award scheme prizing the creativity itself, while it has no binding rules. In the other hand, CSA keeps a straight face by deploying well known and widely recognised jury members.

I hope my next try will be more successful and I can create a “Wikipedia-ready” site before you delete it. I am going to take my time, because I believe that it will attract many visitors.

Anyway, could you please help me with replacing the texts I’ve written so far?

Kind regards,
Lajos Feher

Hi Lfeher. Please note that when you leave a message on a talk page, you should put it at the bottom (I know, more rules!). That is so that it is easier for people to find new messages. I didn't delete your new version of Chip Shop Awards. It looks like the content was the same as the first version, and usually another administration will delete it again if that happens. One thing I forgot to tell you about above is that Wikipedia articles need to be written in an encyclopedic tone. They shouldn't read like a website or a newsletter or an advertisement. This article will likely continue to be deleted unless it is written in a neutral, encyclopedic style and contains reliable sources. I'm not going to undelete the articles that were deleted because they were copyvios and were unencyclopedic.

On my talkpage you mentioned that the awards have been written up in several magazines. If you really want to write a good article on this topic, you will need to reference those articles, not things you know because you are involved in the award organization (that way we know it is not original research and we know the information is verifiable). You really need to start over so that the information has the proper tone. If you want help, you can add links to newspaper/magazine/journal articles here (I'm watching your talk page) or on my talk page and I can help you to figure out how to write the article from those. Dear Karen,
Thank you for the comments indeed. I am going to keep an eye on the requirements next time, quoting independent media etc. I try my fortune tomorrow (here is 17:10 GMT) and thank you for any help in advance.
Cheers,
Lajos

It's not a matter of younger, it's a matter of whether they work (and today is one of the days they don't)! Glad I amused :) Karanacs (talk) 19:05, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Karanacs, have time to help Gimmetrow watch User talk:24.1.4.241? And people think we don't need Moni3. It's not rocket science, just a time-consuming, pain in the neck. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:15, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
