Alexander Eig (1894, near Minsk - 30 July 1938, Jerusalem), botanist, one of the first plant researchers in Israel, the head of department for Botanics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, co-founder of Jerusalem Botanical Gardens on Mount Scopus.
Life
Born in Schedrin near Minsk, he used to wander in the forests around and to join his family hunting and fishing tours, on which he used to look at plants around. On the age of 15 he immigrated to Palestine, and became a student in "Mikveh Israel" agricultural school. .
