The Morane Saulnier MS.603 was a French-built two-seat light aircraft of the late 1940s.
Design and development
Morane Saulnier designed their MS.600 series in order to compete in an officially-sponsored 1947 contest for a light two-seat side-by-side club aircraft to be powered by a 75 hp (56 kW) engine. The MS.600 first flew on 4 June 1947. The aircraft was not successful in the contest. Subsequently the design was modified to accommodate a 100 hp (75 kW) Hirth HM 504A-2 engine and became the MS.603, which was fitted with a tricycle undercarriage.[1] The tailplane is high-set on the fin and is supported by struts.
Operational history
The sole MS.603 was flown for many years by the Aero Club de Courbevoie, based at St Cyr airfield near Paris. By 1963 it was operated by by M. Jean Forster, based at Guyancourt airfield.[2] It is no longer operational and in 2006 was stored by the Musee de l'Aviation du Mas Palegry near Perpignan.[3]
