Since 1983, eWEEK has been a trusted resource in the IT industry, delivering technology news, analysis and reviews of new products. Originally called PC Week, the publication was one of the first to provide perspectives on the tech industry specifically for IT administrators and IT professionals working for large companies that were beginning to build out their infrastructures.
PC Week was founded in the summer of 1983 by editor-in-chief Drake Lundell, publisher Bob Zeigel, and German financier Otmar Weber of M&T Publishing which owned several European computer magazines. Lundell and Zeigel had previously worked with Computerworld.

eWEEK has chronicled how enterprise technology has changed from a reliance on mainframes to the era of distributed computing involving x86 servers, PCs and sophisticated software to our modern world of enterprise applications, mobile devices and cloud computing.
The enterprise level assets of [[Ziff Davis]], including ''eWeek'', Baseline, CIO Insight, Channel Insider, Web Buyer's Guide, the Developer Shed Network and several other properties were carved away from the parent company and sold to [[Insight Venture Partners]] in August 2007 to form a stand-alone company, Ziff Davis Enterprise.

In addition to the main news Website, eWEEK Labs offers in-depth analysis and reviews of the latest hardware and software to help IT managers make critical decisions about how they spend their critical IT dollars.

eWEEK is part of Ziff Davis Enterprise, which includes several other flagship industry standards, including Baseline and CIO Insight. eWEEK’s Channel Insider provides coverage of the technology channel for VARs, ISVs and company partners.
