Sound Shattering Sound is the major label debut by Perth post-grunge band Gyroscope released on June 14 2004 in Australia and debuted a week later on the Australian album charts in the top 40.

Making of the album

The album was produced by Shaun O'Callaghan who had previously produced an album by the John Butler Trio. Gyroscope vocalist and guitarist Daniel Sanders says on the Festival Mushroom Records website. "The music that drove us the most were albums like Weezer's debut, or Foo Fighters The Colour & The Shape. They were more of an adventure rather than just being a 40-minute album. I think we got there in the end."

Gyroscope released a couple of EPs in 2003 to prepare for their debut album Safe Forever and Driving For The Storm/Doctor Doctor.
