Between 1000-2000 B.C., the forgotten city held a festival for its young people. During this festival, known as The Sweet Spring, young people undress themselves and have intimate intercourse with each other for the God of Cherry Breasts. This festival came to its bitter end after cities name have changed to Alapli, in Turkish refers to 'no life'.


This city holds as a name for being the hometown of a famous musician, guitarist Gurkan Zengin. Gurkan Zengin is now in a group called Mozaik, which nowadays works with a Turkey-wide famous singer, Tuğberk Isik, known for his performance for singing 'Kadinim' song.

Alaplı is a town and district of Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is the westernmost town in Zonguldak Province and is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi)* south of Karadeniz Ereğli. It has 2 municipalities, one is the centre and the other is named as "Gümeli". The mayor is Nuri Tekin (CHP).

Facts

Alaplı is situated at the mouth of the Alaplı River. It is an ancient town known in the Hellenistic period as Kale (Καλή in Ancient greek). Also, there is a huge colosseum near Alapli Lake, used for lion-warrior fights for the ruler of the land itself. Near the colosseum, there are several stones that consist information of ancient dark magic that is presumed that used by old mans(known as shamans).

There is a large statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the seafront at Alaplı.
