Jarell was 1/4 of the boy group [[B2K]]. The other with three members of the group are: Omarion ([[Omari Grandberry]]), Raz B ([[Demario Thornton]]) and Lil Fizz ([[Dreux Frederic]]). The name J-Boog came from his grandma calling him "Boogie" because of his love of dancing and the J simply the initial of his first name.

In "[[You Got Served]]", the movie which stared B2K, Marques Houston (Jarells cousin) and Young Rome, Jarell played the character Rico, the peacemaker of the group, after originally being scripted to play David(Omarions role in the movie). In 2004 after B2K'S breakup, Jarell along with Dreux "Lil'Fizz" Frederic started their own record label FBI (Fizz and Boog Inc).

Jarell hosted 106&Park on [[Black Entertainment Television|BET]] in August of 2005.
Since the break up of B2K, Jarell has fathered a little girl with a lady whom he's decided to try and settle down with seeing as it is the best thing to do since they have a child together. [[Lil Fizz]] is the godfather to the little girl.

But now he's back in the studio with his own label The Capitalist Entertainment Group along with his manager and business partner Damuer H. Leffridge. Damuer H. Leffridge is the CEO of The Stonefield Companies, Inc. an international real estate firm specializing in real estate sales, financing and wealth management. Damuer is best known for his real estate consultations to such stars as Jaime Foxx, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Kanye West and a host of others. Damuer is also the CEO of Dirty Work Management where he manages J Boog, Lil Fizz and Maurice Clarett (Denver Broncos). They also have a roster of songwriters and producers. Together the two plan to change the face of west coast hip hop. J Boog is set to release his first mixtape entitled "The 6th Day" summer 06'. His highly anticipated album "My First Words" will follow spring of 07' with the smash single "Lickety-Lick".

He also currently has a sit-com this fall entitled "Mama's Boy's".

Lastly, he has decided to drop the "J" from his name is now simply known as '''Boog.'''
