Germán José Chavarría Jímenez (born March 19, 1958) is a former Costa Rican soccer player who used to play for C.S. Herediano.

He was part of the national team squad, that played in the 1990 FIFA World Cup held in Italy, and featured in all four games played. The midfielder made his debut for the "Tico's" in 1983 and collected 46 caps, scoring 1 goal. He played his last international on December 17, 1994 against Saudi Arabia.
