Steve Hewitt (born 22 March 1971) is the drummer for the band Placebo. He is from Cheshire, and met band member Brian Molko through his then-current girlfriend. Although he appeared on some early demonstration tapes for Placebo, he wasn't able to join the band at first due to prior commitments to British band Breed. Placebo then earned their record deal with replacement drummer Robert Schultzberg. Later, as Breed broke up, Schultzberg was departing from Placebo, so Hewitt accepted the invitation to join Placebo permanently. He has a daughter of unknown age named Emily. In the videoclip of Nancy Boy, Steve's face was blurred out because he still had a contract with the record company of Breed, so his face was not allowed to be shown in Placebo. Robert was already gone, so he couldn't do the drumming.
