The Blood are a London-based punk rock band, formed in 1982. Led by Cardinal Jesus Hate and JJ Bedsore (AKA Bill Sykes and JJ Manson), the band formed in the early 1980s under the name Coming Blood. Their music is a blend of hardcore punk, Oi!, heavy metal, football chants and shock rock. Like the Sex Pistols and Alice Cooper before them, they sought to offend as well as entertain.

Many of their songs criticize religion or discuss political or philisophical topics. Their first single "Meglomania" ridiculed the Pope. Their second single "Stark Raving Normal" criticized the naivety of people following one-dimensional patriotism, and also criticized apathy and mediocrity in the modern state. The Cardinal calls himself a punk secular humanist.[1] Their first album, False Gestures for a Devious Public (1983), hit the UK top 30 and was voted one of the year’s best releases by Sounds magazine.[2][3] They used to be managed by Garry Bushell, and their song "Such Fun" was on the Oi! compilation album Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot!.

J.J. Bedsore passed away in 2004 due to illness.

On December 10, 2006, (International Human Rights Day) The Blood produced their first major work of the 21st century. Their song, Kill The Pimps, released by Eyeline Productions, criticizes governments that turn a blind eye to human trafficking.[4][5] The Cardinal said:

The Blood are trying to bring attention to the fact that the UK have so far refused to sign up to the European Council’s Convention to take action against human trafficking. The song, Kill The Pimps, is an attack at a modern world that accepts the brutal barbarism of young women who are raped by men day and night. Kill The Pimps is a song that, unequivocally, supports UNICEF and Amnesty International in their challenge against the horrific abuse and torrid destruction of young women’s lives.[6][7]
