Dr. Mark I. Miravalle, S.T.D., husband, permanent deacon, and father of eight, began teaching at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1986. He is President of the international Catholic movement Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici[1] (Voice of the People for Mary Mediatrix), a Roman Catholic movement which seeks the solemn papal definition of the Spiritual Maternity of the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix of All Graces, and Advocate for the People of God. Dr. Miravalle has given numerous international lectures in Mariology. He has addressed several Catholic bishops conferences, including those of South India, Nigeria, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. In addition, he has served members of the Episcopal hierarchy with preliminary investigations for reported apparitions. Dr. Miravalle has given talks at many conferences and has often appeared on television, making appearances on EWTN, Fox News, and on Dateline. He also produces a biweekly Mariology television show for the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate.[2] Listed among his many conference presentations are Mariological lectures in the Philippines, Bolivia, India, Nigeria, Ireland, Mexico, Italy, Austria, and the United States; and also a one-week study given at the Mariological Institute, Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr. Miravalle, in support of the Vox Populi movement, has been featured in a cover story for Newsweek from August 1997.[1] and also a New York Times article from December 2000.[2] Among Dr. Miravalle’s numerous television and radio appearances are several Mother Angelica Live Shows; an appearance on Johnette Benkovich’s The Abundant Life series; a Mariological series at the Apostolate of Family Consecration; the Behold Your Mother Radio Show, WEWN Mother Angelica Radio Network; National Family Catholic Radio, a weekly show on the Blessed Virgin Mary; an interview for CNN Latin America; an interview for BBC England; an interview for BBC Washington D.C.; an interview with Fox News; and appearances on the television series “Franciscan Focus.” Currently Dr. Miravalle’s occupation is that of a full Professor of Theology at Franciscan University. His area of specialization is Mariology and Spiritual Theology. His academic awards received are the Columbia Devlin Award, Teacher of the Year, Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1987, 1993, 1997, and 1998. He currently publishes a bi-monthly Marian e-zine, Mother of All Peoples.[3]


Education

Dr. Miravalle received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the University of San Francisco. He then received his Masters of Arts from the St. Ignatius Institute Catholic Great Books Program, also through the University of San Francisco. From there he went on to study at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome where he received both a Licentiate of Sacred Theology and also there earned his Doctor of Sacred Theology.

Dr. Miravalle has written and edited numerous books and articles in the areas of Mariology and Marian private revelation. His most recent books include: Mariology: A Guide for Priests, Deacons, Seminarians, and Consecrated Persons, Ed.; Introduction to Mary: the Heart of Marian Doctrine and Devotion; Marian Private Revelation: Discerning with the Church; The Seven Sorrows of China; Meet Mary: Getting to Know the Mother of God.
