major general F. Baltušis-Žemaitis

Feliksas Baltušis-Žemaitis (eng. Feliks Baltushis-Zhemaitis, rus. Балтушис-Жемайтис Феликс Рафаилович) (November 30, 1897) Apydimų village., Telšių county., Russian Empire – (June 1, 1957) in Moscow (USSR) – Lithuanian army brigade general, Red Army major general. Lecturer of Frunze Military Academy (1935-1940). Docent (1940). Senior lecturer of General Staff Academy (1940-1941, 1943-1945. Chief of Supreme Command Courses (1945-1947).


Belongs to that part of Lithuanian officers raised in tsars army (V.Putna, J.Uborevičius, V.Penkaitis), who later went to serve in the Red Army. Participated in First World War, Russian Civil War, Hamburg Uprising, Second World War. He is the only Lithuanian who taught in a prestigious Frunze Military Academy and General Staff Academy (it is roughly the equivalent of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS or the British Army's Staff College, Camberley.
