The house of her birth

Heo Nanseolheon (1563 - 1589) was a prominent Korean poet of the Joseon dynasty.

Born into a good family in Gangneung, on the east coast of modern day South Korea as the daughter of the mayor of the city, she was the older sister of Heo Gyun (1569-1618). He would also go on to become one of Koreas most important literary figures during this period.

She married early but suffered depression following the deaths of her children after child birth and committed suicide at the age of 27. [1]
