Radio Rock [1] is an Italian local radio station based in Rome. It is called in such a way because it mainly transmits rock music 24h per day. It started broadcasting in 1984. It is famous for bringing to the Roman musical scene famous musicians, previously unknown in Italy. Different disc jockeys, have worked for radio rock, each of them with a peculiar choice in the musical programmation but all of them deeply fond of music.
Radio Rock has made known, just to name some famous groups such as Porcupine Tree, the Elettrojoyce, among Italian solists: Andrea Mirò, Andrea Ra, the group of I ratti della Sabina, the Bevis Frond.
Since 2004 Radio Rock Italia, a twin project of Italian music, is presented only by women djs: Francesca, Anto, Marta, Tosca, Vane.
In 2007 according to the latest Audi report[2] its listeners have reached nearly 200.000 people a day whereas, in the first months of 2008, their number went up to 235.000. Radio Rock is also a streaming radio station reacheable from any part of the world. Radio Rock Italia has been constantly growing throughout the years. Its listeners overwhelm well-known radio stations' listeners of the Lazio Region and of the capital, Rome.
