Sign Systems Studies is internationally the oldest semiotics periodical,[1] initially published in Russian, since 1998 in English with Russian and Estonian language abstracts. This peer-reviewed academic journal journal was established by Juri Lotman (as Trudy po Znakovym Sistemam) in 1964. Since 1998 edited by Peeter Torop, Mihhail Lotman and Kalevi Kull. Published contributors include Marcel Danesi, Umberto Eco, Julia Kristeva, and Susan Petrilli. The journal is available online from the Philosophy Documentation Center.[2]

It is published by the semiotics department of Tartu University in Estonia.
