Taça da Liga

The Taça da Liga (English: Cup of League) is a planned cup that Portugal is deciding whether to start or not.. It is being organized by Sporting CP and Boavista of the BWINLIGA. There will be 32 teams, the sixteen from the BWINLIGA, and the sixteen from the Liga de Honra. The winner of this up will get a spot in the UEFA Cup.

On 28 November, 2006, the Taça da Liga was unianimously approved by all clubs in a meeting in Porto.

Format

The format for the Taça da Liga will have the first three rounds as single elimination rounds, with the BWINLIGA and the Liga de Honra teams facing each other in the first round. After this, the four remaining teams will play each other in a group format. The top two teams in the group will face each other in the 'Final da Taça da Liga'.
