The Prince of Tennis (テニスの王子様, Tennis no Ōjisama) is the title of the anime series originally authored by Takeshi Konomi. This page is about the episodes titles of Japan.

Season One

Episode 1-10: Intraschool Ranking Arc I

Ryoma Echizen moves to Japan after having success at tennis in the US(winning four consecutive American Junior Openings). He 'saves' Sakuno Ryuzaki from upperclassmen without realizing it. He then puts one of the older boys named Sasabe in his place with a tennis match.
2"Samurai Junior"October 17, 2001
Ryoma beats two juniors who are picking on the freshman. He then plays tennis with Takeshi Momoshiro. Momoshiro plays with a bad ankle, while Ryoma plays with his off hand. They quit playing before either wins. Sakuno's friend Tomoka is introduced.
3"The Seigaku Regular Members Have Arrived"October 24, 2001
The Seigaku Regulars are introduced. Reporter Mamoru Inoue and photographer Saori Shiba take an interest in Ryoma. Ryoma defeats 2nd year non-regular Arai using an old broken tennis racket. The captain of the tennis team, Tezuka, enters Ryoma's name on the intraschool ranking matches roster despite the fact that he is a freshman (and therefore technically not allowed to participate).

Ryoma and the Seigaku Regulars win all their matches as the coming year's regulars are chosen through the intraschool ranking matches. In the third round, the regular Kaoru Kaidoh is Ryoma's opponent. Kaidoh uses his special move, the Snake, while Ryoma switches to his good hand.

Kaidoh uses his snake shot to wear off Ryoma's stamina. What will Ryoma do to overwhelm this adversity?

Inoue plays a match with the former "Samurai Nanjirou" to get answers about why he retired, just to find out that he now focuses on developing Ryoma, meanwhile Sakuno looks for Ryoma to learn more about him and tennis.
7"Two Ryomas"November 21, 2001
Inui Sadaharu is Ryoma's next opponent. He uses data tennis to counter Ryoma's play style. It seems like an easy win for Inui, but Ryoma refuses to give up.
8"Split Step"November 28, 2001
Ryoma uses a new technique, a variation of the Split Step that makes him fast enough to return Inui's calculated shots. This, along with the Twist Serve, turns the game into Ryoma's favor.
9"The Hard Day"December 5, 2001
Ryoma claims a spot as regular. Inui's next opponent is Kaidoh, who are playing for the last regular spot of their group. Ryuzaki-sensei also presents her unlikely new fitness coach for the team - who comes with a nasty surprise for the regulars.
10"Counter Attack! Sasabe Once Again"December 12, 2001
Ryoma and the rest of the first years go to where Kachiro's father works as tennis coach just to find trouble with Sasabe junior again, but now it's Sasabe senior's turn to learn a lesson from Ryoma.

Momo and Ryoma volunteer to play in doubles 2 and they also develop a tactic to improve their playing coordination. Their rivals use the Double Net strategy taking advantage of Momo and Ryoma's lack of coordination and turn the game into their favor.

Ryoma and Momoshiro agree to split the court in half, so they only each have to defend one half of the court. It is a strange but effective strategy. Will they be able to win the match this way?
14"The Swallow Return"January 16, 2002
Fudomine, an unknown team that withdrew from last tournament for internal affairs, is Seigaku's next rival. In the first game Fuji and Kawamura find themselves struggling against the first Fudomine pair, consisting of Tetsu Ishida and Masaya Sakurai; forcing Fuji to use the Tsubame Gaeshi, one of his special techniques.

Ishida tries a desperate measure to seal Fuji's Tsubame Gaeshi by using a hit of considerable strength called Hadoukyouu aimed straight at Fuji. Kawamura gets in the way, but the shot was too much for him to contain.
16"Boomerang Snake"January 30, 2002
The Golden Pair wins their doubles match easily thanks to Kikumaru's acrobatics, it's now the time for the game between Kaidoh and Kamio. Kaoru's snake shot turned out to be ineffective against the speed ace from Fudomine, but in a moment of desperation Kaidoh perform an amazing yet impossible shot, that the audience called the Boomerang Snake.
17"The Small Winning Pose"February 6, 2002
Kamio and Kaidoh's game becomes an endurance match. Also Momo learns the identity of the girl he has been running into, who turns out to be Fudomine's player-coach Tachibana's younger sister Ann.
18"Love Letter"February 13, 2002
Nanjiro Echizen finds a letter from Ryuzaki-sensei and remembers his days as a Seigaku regular, meanwhile the game heats up between Ryoma's Twist Serve and Ibu's Kick Serve, which is very similar to Ryoma's.
19"Ryoma is Injured"February 20, 2002
Ryoma struggles to resist Ibu's "Spot" but he only injures his eye trying. With his eyelid bleeding it seems impossible for him to continue. Nevertheless he insist on continuing the match.
20"Time Limit"February 27, 2002
Tezuka gives Echizen 10 minutes to finish the game, after which he will forfeit the match. As the match ended and tending tending to Echizen's wounds, the Seigaku regulars celebrated in Kawamura's sushi restaurant.

Spies from other schools begin to observe Seigaku's training, and Momo and Ryoma teach two of the spies that playing tennis can be just as fun.

Kaoru and Oishi are forced to drink Inui's special vegetable juice for losing in a special training match and become really sick. Tezuka drinks all of Inui's juice by mistake, so Inui is now forced to use his Deluxe Juice on the loser in the Kikumaru-Ryoma match.

The Doubles 2 match was ended abruptly doing to one player getting knocked out. The Golden Pair takes to the courts against Kaneda and Akazawa. Inui grows suspicious of Mizuki's plan, as Akazawa is clueless on doubles.

Eiji runs out of energy, while Oishi covers for him. Eiji recovers and is seemingly about to overwhelm St. Rudolph, but he falters in the end.

Ryoma faces Yuuta Fuji, Syuusuke Fuji's younger brother. He quickly runs into trouble due to the Twist Spin shot of his opponent.

Ryoma unveils his new move, Drive B, to counter the Twist Spin Shot. He also tells Yuuta not to use his Twist Spin shot anymore. The ruthlessness of Mizuki is revealed as he was shown to be the one who taught Yuuta the dangerous move knowingly.

Fuji teaches Mizuki a lesson about tennis on the courts, and Fudomine unexpectedly defeats Hyotei Gakuen 3-0.

Ryoma loses his morale, but he regains it when his father successfully taunts him from afar.

He then realizes that he is afraid of finding out the results of both of them playing to their full potential and that this is quite possibly the last match they will ever have against each other, and he concludes that if he doesn't play his hardest, he will regret it. His hits suddenly get sharper, and Tezuka comments that the true Fuji has awakened.
