Darren Paul Ambrose (born February 29, 1984 in Harlow, Essex) is an English professional footballer who currently plays as an attacking midfielder for Charlton Athletic.
Club career
Ipswich Town
Ambrose started his career at Ipswich Town and made his debut against Arsenal in April of 2002, replacing Martijn Reuser. Ipswich lost their Premiership status that year but Ambrose started brightly in the next season, scoring on his full debut in a 2-0 victory against Walsall. Throughout the campaign he impressed enough to be snapped up by Newcastle United for £1m.
Newcastle United
Ambrose was a success at Newcastle United with 25 appearances for the Magpies in his first season at Newcastle. However, in 2004-05 Ambrose only made 12 Premiership appearances for the Magpies and was sold to Charlton Athletic.
Charlton
He joined Charlton Athletic in July 2005 for a fee estimated to be in the region of £1.5m. In the 2006-07 season Ambrose has scored three goals, and looks to get more appearances under new manager Alan Pardew.
