Stan Zimmerman is a writer, producer, creator, and director of television, theatre and film. Alongside writing partner, James Berg, he has written for many television series including The Golden Girls, Roseanne and Gilmore Girls and feature films such as The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel.[1] Zimmerman/Berg were Creators and Executive Producers of the sitcom, Rita Rocks, starring Nicole Sullivan and Tisha Campbell-Martin which ran for 40 episodes on Lifetime Television.

Origins

Zimmerman is originally from Southfield, Michigan where he began writing for his junior high school newspaper. After attending Cranbrook Summer Theatre School for five seasons and Hampton Playhouse for two, Stan headed to New York to get his BFA at NYU/Circle-in-the-Square drama program. He has appeared on Broadway dancing behind Rudolph Nureyev and the Joffrey Ballet and if you look closely you can see him in such films as The Chosen, Zelig, and Risky Business. Zimmerman worked in casting before moving to Los Angeles, where he's been part of one of the longest running comedy writing teams, Zimmerman & Berg. The duo has received two WGA nominations - one for The Golden Girls and one for the infamous lesbian kiss episode of Roseanne.

Directing

Stan made his stage directing debut with the 30th anniversary revival of Gemini at the Celebration Theatre, then mounted LA productions of A Tuna Christmas, starring Mindy Sterling and Patrick Bristow at Theatre Asylum, Spike Heels at Actors Circle, BLINK & You Might Miss Me at Asylum Lab, Hollywood Fringe Festival and SF Fringe and most recently Entertaining Mr. Sloane starring Ian Buchanan and Olivia d'Abo at the Actors Company. He has directed dfilm with the music video for Whore's Mascara's "All I Want".

Stan also appeared, along with Maxine Lapiduss, on Bravo's Sean Hayes produced Situation: Comedy as showrunner/executive producers.

Other writing credits include Brothers, Fame, George Burns Comedy Week, Hooperman, Something Wilder and Wanda at Large.
