The College of Information Studies (CLIS) is a library and information studies located at the University of Maryland, College Park in Maryland, United States. The College offers graduate study leading to the Master of Library Science, the Master of Information Management, and the Doctor of Philosophy.

Ranking

CLIS ranks 13th in the nation, up one position from the last ranking in 1999, according to U.S. News & World Report[2]. Specific CLIS programs that ranked highly for 2007 include:

  • Archives and Preservation – 2nd (1999 rank, 2nd)
  • School Media – 3rd (not ranked in 1999)
  • Services for Children – 5th (not ranked in 1999)

Notable Alumni

Since 1965, over 5,000 students have earned the MLS from CLIS, and 43 have earned doctorates.[1]
