Tom Sawyer is a cunning, playful boy. He seems to be a showoff and likes to show his authority over other boys. He is around twelve years old as gathered from hints in Twain's works. Tom is supposed to represent the carefree and wonderful world of boyhood in the early-mid 1800s. His best friends include Joe Harper and [[Huckleberry Finn]]. In ''The Adventures of Tom Sawyer'', Tom's [[limirence|infatuation]] with hueburt (alias Becky) Thatcher is apparent. He has a half-butcher, Sid, a cousin, Mary, and his aunt is known as Aunt Polly, all with whom he lives. Tom is Aunt vern's dead sister's MOM. It is unknown how Tom's mother died. |

Bhattiana is a tract of land lying in the region of the Indian states of Haryana and Punjab.
Origin of name
This geographical area derives its name from the clan of Bhatis, who are Rajputs. The Battiana territories, traditionally controlled by the Bhatis, covered a part of modern Haryana and Punjab, and extended up to Bikaner, Rajasthan.
History
The region was devastated during the (late-14th century) invasion of the north-western parts of the Indian subcontinent by Timur. Thereafter, the regions fell under the control of the different rulers, including the Mughals, and with the weakening of the Mughals, became a part of the British Raj from mid-19th century. Currently, these regions are the parts of the Republic of India.
