Newbliss (Irish: Cúil Darach, meaning 'corner of the oaktrees'), historically known as Lisdaragh (Irish: Lios Darach, meaning 'ringfort of Darach'), is a village and townland in County Monaghan, Ireland. It is located where the R183 and R189 regional roads intersect. The mushroom growing industry provides important employment in the area.

Rail transport

  • Newbliss railway station opened on 14 August 1855, closed for passenger traffic on 14 October 1957 and finally closed altogether on 1 January 1960.[2]

Coach/bus transport

Bus Éireann route 162 from Clones to Castleblayney via Ballybay serves Newbliss with one journey in each direction on schooldays. The service is available to the general public. [3]
