== Fábio Pereira da Silva ==

Hi, would you consider de-salting [[Fábio Pereira da Silva]] as he is now a professional footballer (see [http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={FE60904B-C2A8-4E60-9B05-700DBBC29BBC}&section=playerProfile&teamid=458&bioid=93372 ref]). Thanks, [[User talk:Msgj|MSGJ]] 14:36, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! According to that link, he hasn't yet made his debut which means he still isn't notable per WP:ATHLETE. Note also he was deleted via [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fábio Pereira da Silva|AfD]]. Because of that I'd suggest a draft in your userspace (I'm happy to provide the text) and then take it to DRV. Thoughts? <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 19:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
::Hey there, it's not me who's writing the article. It's a submission at [[wp:AfC|AfC]], see [[Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Submissions/Fábio Pereira da Silva|Articles for creation/Submissions/Fábio Pereira da Silva]]. I didn't read the exact requirements of ATHLETE actually, I was assuming it was enough to be on the team. Best regards, [[User talk:Msgj|MSGJ]] 21:03, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
:::Gotcha. I don't know where to leave a comment there as it's not an area where I normally work. I'll procedurally bring it to [[WP:DRV]] as what the article asserts is different to what the link you provided above says. It's listed at DRV [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2008_September_25#Article:F.C3.A1bio_Pereira_da_Silva here]. Hopefully an outcome will come out of there. == New museum entry, a crossed Maltese, EliteAnswers.com ==

Cari, I have a new entry up for the [[Judaica Museum of the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale]] -- are you familiar with that Bronx-based venue? The entry is a stub -- I need to get more info, but at least I got something in place. Also, I saw the problem with the attempts to vandalise [[Malta Enterprise]], which I recreated after its original version was deleted. Can you put a page protection lock on that to keep the vandal(s) away? Also, would you mind if I sandblasted the EliteAnswers.com article? I think it can be salvaged, albeit as a stub -- there is just an excess of flab that needs tightening. Thanks! [[User:Ecoleetage|Ecoleetage]] ([[User talk:Ecoleetage|talk]]) 03:45, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

: Hi Ecoleetage.<br>If I may chime in, I don't think anyone minds if you clean up [[EliteAnswers.com]], to the contrary! But as I said at the AfD I have serious doubts that it has the significant coverage needed to pass [[WP:N]].<br>Cheers, <span style="font-family:Verdana;font-variant:small-caps;">[[User:Amalthea|<span style='color:#823824'>Amalthea</span>]][[User talk:Amalthea|Talk]]</span> 03:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

:Hi Eco, dittoing Amalthea above. Feel free to give it a go. I never mind being proven wrong but there doesn't appear to be anything from which to build a non PR puff piece. Good article re: the Jewish home. Just came across something about it in my office. Will upate the article if I can. [[Malta Enterprise]] is a sock farm with the exception of your work. I'm hoping someone closes out the SSP report and that someone isn't me :) <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 14:05, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

::Hi Cari. I will try to get to EliteAnswers.com later today -- the day is shaping up to be hectic (real life can be so annoyingly intrusive). I also reported [[User:Cataniaa]] as a vandal to [[Malta Enterprise]] and he has been indefinitely blocked -- hopefully that will keep the article safe for now. And, yes, that Jewish museum in the senior complex is very unusual (what a place to stick a museum!). I added it to the list of NYC cultural centers. Be well. [[User:Ecoleetage|Ecoleetage]] ([[User talk:Ecoleetage|talk]]) 14:24, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

:::Yeah, real life needs to be smacked at times. Thanks for reporting Cataniaa, the SSP [[Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Maltaenterprise|is here]]. It amazed me how rude people can be at times. I had fun working on the [[Center for Jewish History]], which I still need to expand. Time, what a rare commodity. Stay dry! <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 14:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
::Oh, I like the rain. But, then again, I'm the type who never knows when to come in from it. I am going to try to rewrite EliteAnswers.com at a later date, provided it is not salted. The AfD is clearly a lost cause and I currently lack the time and energy to save it from deletion. Be well. [[User:Ecoleetage|Ecoleetage]] ([[User talk:Ecoleetage|talk]]) 15:45, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
:::If it is salted, write it in your sandbox. I trust you'll do a clean job with it and then it can be unsalted (under one capitalization) and I'll re-salt the other as a re-direct. Somehow I think we'll be playing whack-a-mole with this one for some time to come. I give the creator an A for persistence. I like playing in the rain. == Virgin America ==

Hi. Thanks for the revert warning. The issue at [[Virgin America]] is nearly resolved I think if you view the talk page. But it also ties into a much bigger debate at [[Los Angeles International Airport]] where there are three administrators already overseeing the dispute and the article is protected so if that has to happen here as well to reach resolve then that is just what we'll have to do. In fact I had asked as much before my edit was just undone a few minutes ago which ironically brought me the warning even though I wasn't the last revert so I hope you're on top of them just as much as you're on top me. [[Special:Contributions/68.52.36.127|68.52.36.127]] ([[User talk:68.52.36.127|talk]]) 04:10, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
::Go ahead and protect the article. I just did my 2nd revert for this 24 hour period and if it isn't still the way I left it or the issue resolved in 48 hours I'll do it again because I think what I'm removing from the article is inaccurate and shouldn't be there. [[Special:Contributions/68.52.36.127|68.52.36.127]] ([[User talk:68.52.36.127|talk]]) 04:18, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm not going to protect it against a low-speed edit war. This has been going on for months as source v. source v. who doesn't like which source vs. official vs. official-er source. Get my drift? You all mean well, but this is a little nuts. Everyone has been warned to stop edit warring/revert warring. Not really a war, this is a backyard lob a snowball and duck fight. Feel free to request it at [[WP:RPP]] if you feel it needs to be locked. I think a discussion without reverting will help, but I agree with what soomeone says: the LAX issue doesn't mean VX needs to be the same. It probably does need a larger discussion at the Aviation project, however. Thanks and have a good night - I'm on EST and it's bedtime here. <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 04:38, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

::Alright. Yea...I understand everything you're saying and I hadn't even considered the Aviation project thing. In fact, after seeing the way you described everything it kind of makes me wonder why I've even cared to be quite honest. It has gotten ridiculous and out of hand for such a small part of two articles. Amazing how a un-involved third party can give you such a different perspective on things. I understand the time thing as I'm in CST in the SE unlike some in that particular argument that are actually in Los Angeles so it's late here too. Thanks for the reply. [[Special:Contributions/68.52.36.127|68.52.36.127]] ([[User talk:68.52.36.127|talk]]) 05:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

:::No worries. My general rule of thumb to avoid getting worked up is that in the end, whatever the issue is, is generally not woth the aggravation. Yes, we want to have accurate information but when it's sourced on both sides (with basically just the claims differing), it's not as much an issue as say: Party A believes this, which is unsourced and Party B believes that, which is sourced to a reliable source. [[WP:AVIATION|The aviation project]] is a good resource and may be able to get some neutral input as this article isn't a heavily edited one as opposed to some where everyone has an opinion or five. Have a good day! <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 15:21, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

:Such a slacker he is -- take one for the team. He looked like Santana in his prime last night, and sadly sometimes going 9 is the only way to ensure a win. On the radio the other morning after a bullpen loss the sports announcer was funny "Scot Schoenweis and friends..." I hope the Mets win today to take Shea out on a high note, but I'm shocked it's not the game of the week since it is the closing game and has playoff implications. You know I was at the Yankee game last Sunday, right? *That* was phenomenal even though it was meaningless. Assume you've seen [http://www.theonion.com/content/news/struggling_mets_combine_to_form this] and the less-funny [http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/mets_to_play_brewers_in_one this]? ::I figured you were there. I read in the news about some girl who had to be dragged out of the stadium kicking, crying, screaming.

::It should probably be named "Heilman and friends". He best represents their - at this point - hilarious incompetency.

::If I had to predict what will happen today, I would say that both the Brewers (I feel very weird with my user name today) and the Mets will lose. After last years playoffs, CC has not proven to be a big time pitcher. And he's on 3 days rest. [[Oliver Perez|Oliver Twist]], I don't trust either. Last year, he was in a similar spot (I think it was also against the Marlins), a few days before the end of the season, and he got bombed.

I think he's another used to was, although I said the same about [[Mike Mussina|someone else]] when he first came over. :::Got it, kitchen is too far from my TV to have heard it and didn't really like the idea of blasting my roommates ears out. Schoenweis needs to retire. Is Wagner back next year? I can't remember how many years he had left. Will Manuel be back at the helm? I can't tell whether it's better or worse to be less-spectacular of a collapse than last year. Santana has one more year, right? What about Delgado? Yankees have the bases loaded against Papelbon in the 9th. 3-2 was too close for comfort. ::::: <nowiki>*puts you in padded space so you don't break yourself*</nowiki> It is frustrating. Statistically both the Yankees and Mets should have gone to the post season this year. Both teams 16 above .500, Yankees have potential to be 17 or 18 above. In any other division, it wouldn't have been a mess but neither team played to their capability. Eek. == Kissy Simmons ==

Hi Cari. As I see it, regarding the sources with Kissy Simmons, Broadwayworld.com appears to be reprinted press releases while Playbill is strictly a marketing piece (the cast biography section is provided by the show's producers and is not original writing). At best, Ms. Simmons is an extremely marginal stage personality -- but, hopefully, she will see major stardom soon and this will be a funny blip in her early career. :I believe a lot of show biz media is iffy in regard to passing [[WP:RS]] -- even major stuff like Variety and Hollywood Reporter is not shy about reprinting press releases verbatim and pretending they're news. But in all honesty, I am glad this article remained -- much the way I am glad when all articles survive AfD, even if there is a no consensus vote. And I appreciate Michael's efforts to improve its sourcing and I am glad for the input from the other editors. == Bruce Castle ==

''<small>(Cross-posted to a couple of other talkpages, if you think it looks familiar. Any [[WP:TPS|TPS]]s, feel free to join in.)</small>''<br>
I've totally rewritten [[Bruce Castle]] from a stub to a Long Rambling Piece (and in a burst of vanity, timed it so [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bruce_Castle&diff=242621613&oldid=241312898 this edit] would be [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=users&usprop=editcount&ususers=iridescent edit 100,000]).

This is the third, and final part of my [[Lordship Lane (Haringey)|Lordship Lane]] triptych (along with [[The Mall Wood Green]] and [[Broadwater Farm]]), and has been the trickiest one to write. Because Bruce Castle is a distinctly dull building (architecturally, it's only really notable for being old), I've taken a Giano-horrifying approach and virtually ignored the architecture; instead, I've tried to write it as a chronological piece, focusing on the occupants of the house in the context of the social changes in the area. This has left it with some gaping holes; most notably that the architectural sections are weak (albeit mainly because there are no records of construction and the building isn't particularly distinguished).

Any comments, criticism, copyediting or rewriting gratefully received…<small>&nbsp;–&nbsp;<font style="font-family: Zapfino, Segoe Script"><font color="#E45E05">[[User:Iridescent|iride]]</font><font color="#C1118C">[[User talk:Iridescent|scent]]</font></font>&nbsp;00:02, 3 October 2008 (UTC)</small>

== Deletion of "Vale de Figueira" article ==

Dear "Travellingcari",

I am writing this comment in response to your speedy delete of my article "Vale de Figueira". Today, I came to terms with the fact that you had deleted it and I wondered why. I went to your page, so that I could understand how to correctly ask for its restorage as I do strongly believe in its relevance.

So, first of all, I consider useful that you know why I wrote that article. It is about my village, Vale de Figueira, a parish in the district of Santarém, Portugal. I went to the Santarem article and, as expected, it had a list of its parishes. In order to make it more complete because it's about the history of a country and it is at anyone's interest, I decided to create the article "Vale de Figueira", making it a link of that page, being already listed there. To help me create this article, I based on one portuguese website [http://www.cm-santarem.pt/santarem/] with information about this ancient village, on another article of portuguese wikipedia [http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vale_de_Figueira_(Santar%C3%A9m)] and also on a portuguese book edited in 2001, named <ref></ref>"Vale de Figueira, terra que os viu nascer", which in free translation may be called "Vale de Figueira, land that saw their birth" which has lots of information on this village's foundation, development, legends, famous places, etc.
Being it, I hope that you have in consideration all the explained above to restore my article, which soon I would like to rearrange with more relevant stuff.

I do look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Joaomsf89

:Hi Joaomsf89, thanks for your note. Unfortunately the problem with your article was not the topic, but rather the fact that it was a copyright violation, as I noted here: '' * 02:55, 2 October 2008 Travellingcari (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Vale de Figueira" ‎ (G12: Blatant copyright infringement) (restore)''. While basing an article on a website is good, you need to make sure you're not using text that the website has not permitted to be re-used. You need to write the text in your own words. Because it is a copyright violation, I cannot restore it. <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 17:52, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

=== Proposed claim addition ===
This is an off-the-cuff addition of the basics. Help sourcing it would be nice, although I can do it myself later. Begins with a summary of the process:<blockquote>The central claim of fractional-banking opponents is that a "debt-based monetary system" increases the [[money supply]], leading to [[inflation]] and speculative [[economic bubble]]s.

:Thanks for the heads up, I usually do but I may have missed a couple. Will double check in the future. <font face="Verdana"><font color="Blue">[[User_talk:Travellingcari|TravellingCari]]</font></font> 11:48, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
When banks lend out the money deposited in them and hold only a fraction in reserve (the [[reserve ratio]]), they create money if the assumption that the money lent out is deposited and lent out several times over holds true. This feature allows central banks to temporarily flex or permanently change the money supply through [[open market operations]], thereby affecting interest rates such as the [[federal funds rate]]. The money supply is flexed through [[repurchase agreement]]s of securities on banks' balance sheets, and permanently changed through the outright purchase or sale of securities. When securities are replaced by cash on a banks balance sheet, the bank can lend out more, and as the borrowers spend the new money, it is deposited in banks which will lend it out again. Mainstream economists believe that an increase in money supply, typically temporary, is important to stimulate the economy during recessions to avoid bank runs, deflation, and other problems. Mainstream economists also believe that the money supply must be periodically increased in a growing economy to avoid deflation; if an economy produces more goods but less money exists, deflation is expected to occur. Central banks aim for predictable consistency in the [[price index]].

== Clayton Hartwig ==
The [[Austrian Business Cycle Theory]] holds that the periodic expansions and recessions of the [[business cycle]] are largely due to the flexing of the money supply by central banks. (I could be wrong) This view is not well-regarded by mainstream economists, and dramatic recessions and speculative bubbles precede central banking (see [[list of recessions in the United_States]]). These recessions were often exacerbated by the lack of central banking, with its ability to flex the money supply. Milton Friedman and Ben Bernanke attribute the Great Depression to faulty policy in the Federal Reserve, but they believe this policy did not increase the money supply enough.

I wanted to make you aware of this in advance so you aviod any kind of bad blood situtation: I recreated this article as a redirect to the article [[USS Iowa turret explosion]]. I did this to preempt any attempt to recreat the Clayton Hartwig article as it was at the time of its AFD. If you disagree with this action, feel free to revert my actions; I will not object. [[User:TomStar81|TomStar81]] ([[User talk:TomStar81|Talk]]) 19:26, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Mainstream economists do acknowledge the increased risk of speculative bubbles and inflation from poor central banking policy. Milton Friedman has argued that the control over the money supply by individuals should be relinquished and replaced with a consistent rate of growth in the money supply of between 3 and 5%. (Something I read in Cap&Freedom, but it seems like it should be more tied to economic growth ...)</blockquote>

== Adminship ==
This covers the basics, and maybe it places too much emphasis on central banks and Austrian business cycle theory. Still, I think it would be decent to begin this article with the basics. There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding how central banks work, how the money is actually created, how long it is created, and why it is created. It seems more accurate to say that when the central bank "extends credit" or "flexes the supply" when its actions are temporary. Of course, we need to work on what is objectionable about fractional-reserve banking outside of the central bank element, or else this might as well be called "criticisms of central banking".

Hello, TravellingCari. As you probably know, we are doing three RfA's to test a new RfA format, and I have been asked to be the second nominee, after Ironholds' is over. He recommended you as a potential nom for me, so I would appreciate if you looked at my contribs and thought as to whether or not you would be willing to nom me. Thanks for your time, Erik the <font color="red">[[User:Erik the Red 2|Red]]</font> 2 <small><font color= "green">[[User talk:Erik the Red 2|~~]]</font><font color= "blue">[[Special:Contributions/Erik the Red 2|~~]]</font></small> 02:42, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
I also wonder whether the gold standard and central banking are necessarily mutually exclusive, as the critics seem to think, and I think they aren't. However, I would agree that banking can't really operate on a full reserve, because lending is no longer possible. According to critics the [[Bank of Amsterdam]] operated like this, but it might be misleading to call it a bank at this point. Interesting article, though, as are Adam Smith's comments on it. :Hi Erik, thanks for asking. I have next to no in-depth wiki time of late, mainly playing around with articles on my watchlist as issues pop up and I'm about to be totally offline for the upcoming long weekend here so I don't think I'd be a fair nom at this point as I won't have time to review your contribs and I don't want to hold you back. :It's OK. I'd give it a bare pass. To be blunt, it's a very shallow analysis. Your small camera is pointed at a tiny corner of the big picture. Mainstream economists also focus their tiny camera on the "plumbing" of the monetary system, whereas "debt-based" critics focus on the economic, social and environmental '''effects''' this system of debt-money creation has. In order for the central banking/frb system to work, someone has to be the "sucker" who gets into debt in order for the "debt money" to be created. Who is that sucker? What does he/she buy with the new debt money? A car? A house? A new bag? And who gets that newly-created money (i.e. who gets rich off debt)? What does that system of money creation do to the economy? Michael Rowbotham is probably the best at teasing out the implications of this system of money supply. For an Austrian view, see [http://www.goldensextant.com/SavingtheSystem.html this] excellent piece by Robert K. Landis. If you summarized Landis's analysis you would better capture the key issues of the "debt-based" claims, to which (they allege) the mainstream is willfully blind. Willfully blind, like a blind man leading a blind man leading a blind man...over a monetary cliff (interestingly, the first blind man always tends to pull away at the last second leaving the others to fall, but all along says he was blind and couldn't see it coming. Like Greenspan retiring a year before the 2007 credit crunch). It's funny how credit markets work, isn't it? It's especially funny (bordering on hilarious) to see who gets picked as a "favorite" (and is saved from bankruptcy by the taxpayer) and who gets left to be slaughtered. It's always good to have friends at the Fed when the pretty, fey game of musical chairs stops and the bullets and blood start flying. - [[Special:Contributions/165.228.245.66|165.228.245.66]] ([[User talk:165.228.245.66|talk]]) 03:19, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

== Good articles? ==
== innapropriate use of neutrality notice here ==
So I know that I shouldn't think of good articleship as a big deal, but... wouldn't it be nice to be one of the relatively few IP addresses entitled to display a [[Image:symbol support vote.svg|14px]] on its userpage? (I think only one other IP has started one from scratch, although many may have taken existing articles and improved them to [[WP:GA?|good-article]] status. And yes, I have registered, but since I started [[Heath v. Alabama|this article]] as an IP, I'm going to finish it as an IP.)

Speaking of [[WP:GA?|good articles]], there are a bunch of items that need to be improved to WP:GA status that require a higher level of skill. [[Natural born citizen|'''This one''']] comes to mind as being an especially timely topic. I know that in the grand scheme of things, WP:GA is not a big deal, but for some reason I think it to be important.... [[Special:Contributions/69.140.152.55|69.140.152.55]] ([[User talk:69.140.152.55|talk]]) 03:00, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
'The basic debate' and 'basic nature of system' sections contain only descriptions of attributed and referenced arguments, except for the unreferenced claim represented by paragraph four of 'the basic debate'. The description of arguments is neutraly put. The neutrality notices seem to be applied to the arguments themselves, rather than the desciption of the arguments. This use of the notice is entirely innapropriate as the arguments are not being proposed in the paragraphs but merely described. Neutrality cannot be an issue for these sections on an 'equal space' basis either as the large 'conventional analysis' section puts the mainstream alternative positon. Whereas neutrality might or might not be an issue for the whole article, the separate notices for these sections are entirely innapropriate as things stand.
ALSO -as the article is about criticisms, said criticisms should be put before counterarguments are presented. ie. the 'conventional analysis' section should FOLLOW the critisms, rather than precede them.
ALSO -I'll second 68.144.81.206 in asking what the deal is with all the scare-quotes? Are they there for a reason? Actually I'll second all of 68.144.81.206's points.
Won't make changes as I am not an ecomomist, but proper presentation should not be any harder just because the issue is contentious. It would be nice if someone more expert in this area could take a few minuites to tidy this article though.

Fábio Pereira da Silva

Hi, would you consider de-salting Fábio Pereira da Silva as he is now a professional footballer (see ref). Thanks, MSGJ 14:36, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! According to that link, he hasn't yet made his debut which means he still isn't notable per WP:ATHLETE. Note also he was deleted via AfD. Because of that I'd suggest a draft in your userspace (I'm happy to provide the text) and then take it to DRV. Thoughts? TravellingCari 19:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there, it's not me who's writing the article. It's a submission at AfC, see Articles for creation/Submissions/Fábio Pereira da Silva. I didn't read the exact requirements of ATHLETE actually, I was assuming it was enough to be on the team. Best regards, MSGJ 21:03, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha. I don't know where to leave a comment there as it's not an area where I normally work. I'll procedurally bring it to WP:DRV as what the article asserts is different to what the link you provided above says. It's listed at DRV here. Hopefully an outcome will come out of there. Can you notify those involved in AfC? TravellingCari 21:16, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Avenue East Cobb

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Avenue East Cobb, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. New museum entry, a crossed Maltese, EliteAnswers.com

Cari, I have a new entry up for the Judaica Museum of the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale -- are you familiar with that Bronx-based venue? The entry is a stub -- I need to get more info, but at least I got something in place. Also, I saw the problem with the attempts to vandalise Malta Enterprise, which I recreated after its original version was deleted. Can you put a page protection lock on that to keep the vandal(s) away? Also, would you mind if I sandblasted the EliteAnswers.com article? I think it can be salvaged, albeit as a stub -- there is just an excess of flab that needs tightening. Thanks! Ecoleetage (talk) 03:45, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ecoleetage.
If I may chime in, I don't think anyone minds if you clean up EliteAnswers.com, to the contrary! But as I said at the AfD I have serious doubts that it has the significant coverage needed to pass WP:N.
Cheers, AmaltheaTalk 03:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Eco, dittoing Amalthea above. Feel free to give it a go. I never mind being proven wrong but there doesn't appear to be anything from which to build a non PR puff piece. Good article re: the Jewish home. Just came across something about it in my office. Will upate the article if I can. Malta Enterprise is a sock farm with the exception of your work. I'm hoping someone closes out the SSP report and that someone isn't me  :) TravellingCari 14:05, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cari. I will try to get to EliteAnswers.com later today -- the day is shaping up to be hectic (real life can be so annoyingly intrusive). I also reported User:Cataniaa as a vandal to Malta Enterprise and he has been indefinitely blocked -- hopefully that will keep the article safe for now. And, yes, that Jewish museum in the senior complex is very unusual (what a place to stick a museum!). I added it to the list of NYC cultural centers. Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 14:24, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, real life needs to be smacked at times. Thanks for reporting Cataniaa, the SSP is here. It amazed me how rude people can be at times. I had fun working on the Center for Jewish History, which I still need to expand. Time, what a rare commodity. Stay dry! TravellingCari 14:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I like the rain. But, then again, I'm the type who never knows when to come in from it. I am going to try to rewrite EliteAnswers.com at a later date, provided it is not salted. The AfD is clearly a lost cause and I currently lack the time and energy to save it from deletion. Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 15:45, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it is salted, write it in your sandbox. I trust you'll do a clean job with it and then it can be unsalted (under one capitalization) and I'll re-salt the other as a re-direct. Somehow I think we'll be playing whack-a-mole with this one for some time to come. I give the creator an A for persistence. I like playing in the rain. I don't like commuting in it and coming to work a drowned rat. TravellingCari 16:04, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Virgin America

Hi. Thanks for the revert warning. The issue at Virgin America is nearly resolved I think if you view the talk page. But it also ties into a much bigger debate at Los Angeles International Airport where there are three administrators already overseeing the dispute and the article is protected so if that has to happen here as well to reach resolve then that is just what we'll have to do. In fact I had asked as much before my edit was just undone a few minutes ago which ironically brought me the warning even though I wasn't the last revert so I hope you're on top of them just as much as you're on top me. 68.52.36.127 (talk) 04:10, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and protect the article. I just did my 2nd revert for this 24 hour period and if it isn't still the way I left it or the issue resolved in 48 hours I'll do it again because I think what I'm removing from the article is inaccurate and shouldn't be there. 68.52.36.127 (talk) 04:18, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to request it at WP:RPP if you feel it needs to be locked. I think a discussion without reverting will help, but I agree with what soomeone says: the LAX issue doesn't mean VX needs to be the same. It probably does need a larger discussion at the Aviation project, however. Thanks and have a good night - I'm on EST and it's bedtime here. TravellingCari 04:38, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. 68.52.36.127 (talk) 05:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. The aviation project is a good resource and may be able to get some neutral input as this article isn't a heavily edited one as opposed to some where everyone has an opinion or five. Have a good day! cant sleep tonight, i'm too nervous

too bad the messiah can't go on 20 hours rest. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 04:51, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Such a slacker he is -- take one for the team. Assume you've seen this and the less-funny this? PS: long time no see, how's all in Brew world? TravellingCari 15:27, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I figured you were there. I read in the news about some girl who had to be dragged out of the stadium kicking, crying, screaming.
It should probably be named "Heilman and friends". He best represents their - at this point - hilarious incompetency.
If I had to predict what will happen today, I would say that both the Brewers (I feel very weird with my user name today) and the Mets will lose. After last years playoffs, CC has not proven to be a big time pitcher. And he's on 3 days rest. Oliver Twist, I don't trust either. Last year, he was in a similar spot (I think it was also against the Marlins), a few days before the end of the season, and he got bombed.
Somebody made a good point on the radio this morning. He said it will be typical Mets to have a closing ceremony right after knocking themselves out of the playoffs. True. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah people who still think your username represents your sports allegiances will be very confused to know you're a Mets fan. I don't trust CC in the clutch, that's why I really hope he goes back to the Mistake on the Lake and the Yankees don't try to get him this off season. I think he's another used to was, although I said the same about someone else when he first came over. I planned to watch the Mets today for the closing of Shea but with Moose going for 20... I just hope you don't get rained out. Did you watch Shea Goodbye on SNY? I was at the taping and it was wonderful. I missed it last night though :( Last weekend, yes I know, I don't have a hat-shaped head. Off to the gym, back for the games :) TravellingCari 15:57, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I hope he gets 20, it makes for a really nice story. I'll have look through your archives, though, and find some thread of you cursing him out:- ) --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 16:45, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Might have, early in the season when I said he needed to be put out to pasture. I hope he gets 20 and goes out on high note, but Daisuke's 18-2 is scary. Both on rain delay now? TravellingCari 17:38, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mets are delayed, the Brewers start at 2. Per this change in status, the Mets might know their status at the end of their game. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 17:43, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Very cute shot of Seaver and Mr. Met. Piazza needs to stick a sock in it. Yankees rain delayed again. Can't find Brewers/Cubs on TV here but I'm sure they'll update the scores ad nauseam. TravellingCari 17:58, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WHY DO I ROOT FOR THESE IDIOTS? THEY ARE THE BIGGEST PACK OF LOSERS IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:09, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SOrry dude, they fought the good fight. WHy did they yank Ollie so early? I was heating up lunch and missed that. TravellingCari 21:08, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ack we E/Ced. I feel bad for you/them. How can you celebrate the stadium after an eliminating loss? That's the down-side of a post game celebration. That and the weather. I will say, the Mets gave it a very good run this season. No one expected it to be this close when they let go of Willie. If the Yankee pen blows this, I'm going to scream for Moose's sake. TravellingCari 21:12, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He gave up three straight hits to start of the sixth. You were prophetic with your "Scot Schoenweis and friends..." statement above. Who else gives up the lead with a homerun? The more technically correct term is "Scot Schoenweis and and his fellow incompetent idiots..." That whole bullpen must be gotten rid of. We have to start over. These losers should be embarrassed to put on a baseball uniform. They should all retire and go somewhere..........--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:17, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, kitchen is too far from my TV to have heard it and didn't really like the idea of blasting my roommates ears out. I want Moose to get 20, gives meaning to a long, drawn out game. Brewers in the playoffs just sounds *odd* TravellingCari 21:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wagner is out for the whole next year. From a statistical standpoint, last year's collapse was worse. But this one is much worse because its the second year in a row these fools fell apart. I've calmed down somewhat. I stopped breaking stuff. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
*puts you in padded space so you don't break yourself* It is frustrating. Statistically both the Yankees and Mets should have gone to the post season this year. Both teams 16 above .500, Yankees have potential to be 17 or 18 above. In any other division, it wouldn't have been a mess but neither team played to their capability. Eek. Watching Papelbon have a tantrum shows him to be the three year old he is at times. TravellingCari 21:44, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Haha. Papelbon raised his ERA from under 2 to 2.40 or something in a meaningless game. I would also throw a temper tantrum if that happened to me. Maybe that is what the incompetent losers, aka the Mets bullpen, needs - some temper tantrums. They walk out there with their blank faces, give up a couple homers, then go back to their hole with the same blank stare. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:56, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Papelbon was channeling Paulie there. Dude, don't walk. Throw it over the plate. He's a great closer but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. Mets have no such illusions. Headed offline. Back in a bit. TravellingCari 21:59, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kissy Simmons

Ecoleetage (talk) 00:23, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe a lot of show biz media is iffy in regard to passing WP:RS -- even major stuff like Variety and Hollywood Reporter is not shy about reprinting press releases verbatim and pretending they're news. But in all honesty, I am glad this article remained -- much the way I am glad when all articles survive AfD, even if there is a no consensus vote. And I appreciate Michael's efforts to improve its sourcing and I am glad for the input from the other editors. So, it is a win-win situation. :) Ecoleetage (talk) 00:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am very familiar with the Battery Park shrine -- when I am in the neighbourhood, I always go there to pray. There is already an article for that on Wikipedia, but not for the national shrine in Maryland. Cheers. Ecoleetage (talk) 16:01, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Very nice new addition to the project! Kudos! Ecoleetage (talk) 16:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Malware

I attempted to check the link you provided in the AFD for Water Fuel Museum, and Google gave me this. So you may want to check your computer for malware. TallNapoleon (talk) 11:53, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bruce Castle

(Cross-posted to a couple of other talkpages, if you think it looks familiar. Any TPSs, feel free to join in.)
I've totally rewritten Bruce Castle from a stub to a Long Rambling Piece (and in a burst of vanity, timed it so this edit would be edit 100,000).

This is the third, and final part of my Lordship Lane triptych (along with The Mall Wood Green and Broadwater Farm), and has been the trickiest one to write.

Any comments, criticism, copyediting or rewriting gratefully received… – iridescent 00:02, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of "Vale de Figueira" article

To help me create this article, I based on one portuguese website [1] with information about this ancient village, on another article of portuguese wikipedia [2] and also on a portuguese book edited in 2001, named Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page)."Vale de Figueira, terra que os viu nascer", which in free translation may be called "Vale de Figueira, land that saw their birth" which has lots of information on this village's foundation, development, legends, famous places, etc. Being it, I hope that you have in consideration all the explained above to restore my article, which soon I would like to rearrange with more relevant stuff.

I do look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Joaomsf89

Joaomsf89 (talk) 13:51, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Joaomsf89, thanks for your note. Unfortunately the problem with your article was not the topic, but rather the fact that it was a copyright violation, as I noted here: * 02:55, 2 October 2008 Travellingcari (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "Vale de Figueira" ‎ (G12: Blatant copyright infringement) (restore). While basing an article on a website is good, you need to make sure you're not using text that the website has not permitted to be re-used. You need to write the text in your own words. Because it is a copyright violation, I cannot restore it. TravellingCari 17:52, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RickK

Hi there, I was stalking some user talk pages and came upon a comment you made here: User_talk:Iridescent#RickK_Anti-Vandalism_Barnstar. You mentioned that you wanted an email with information about RickK or something to that effect? (Hey, I just realised that happened barely two days ago!) I was just wondering if you'd be able to share the email in any way or if you know somewhere else that contains information about it, as I've always wondered why exactly this RickK person is so famous on WP. If you prefer not to, then thanks anyway. :)

Thank you for your time :) --RazorICE 12:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Falling Down deletion

Hi,

Did you mean to delete Falling Down (an article about the Michael Douglas film) as well as Falling Down (Hayden Panettiere album)? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 20:46, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely not, have restored and have let the script maintainer know since it appears to maybe have been an issue with the script. TravellingCari 21:01, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

some artists

Cari, could you take a look at West Bank School of Art and Culture and the artists linked to from there. i have my doubts. DGG (talk) 04:41, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Algoryx Simulation

Hi. I see you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Algoryx Simulation, but didn't delete AgX Multi Physics or Phun 2D Physics Sandbox which were part of the nomination and still have afd tags on them. It appears that User talk:Fixman does not think the Phun article should be deleted judging from their recent edit to the archived debate (which I have reverted) so you may want to talk to them first. Thanks! GDallimore (Talk) 09:11, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Taken care of, sorry for the oversight. Didn't read the nom clearly, will leave a comment for Fixman TravellingCari 02:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I feel a need to criticize the consistency of these decisions. Please look into all the engines/software that are linked to from Physics engine. Many of these wiki entries have a level of independent referencing that is comparable (or worse) compared to the entries you have just deleted. I fully respect the quality work on Wikipedia, but a random annihilation of certain wiki subjects is in itself a serious quality problem, and makes me wonder if there is hidden agenda. I have no problem with the deletion of the Algoryx entry, but the deletion of the "Phun 2D Physics Sandbox" entry (and the "AgX Multiphysics (software)" entry)leaves you with alot of work on the rest of the subject, and I am curious what sort of domain qualifications these specific editors have in doing this.Kenbon (talk) 14:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Travellingcari. Kenbon, the solution to your concerns is to nominate those other articles for deletion and put them through the same process. Merely complaining will get you nowhere. "Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain" (Henry Ford). GDallimore (Talk) 15:13, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, GDallimore. That's exactly what I was coming to say. While other stuff exists, that doesn't mean it necessarily should. Or perhaps they're stronger on other aspects. No wiki editor is required to have any qualifications on a given topic, although deletion sorting allows those with a particular interest to be notified of pending deletion discussions. If you strongly disagree with the consensus at AfD, you're welcome to take it to deletion review but the other stuff exists argument won't get far. TravellingCari 15:19, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, edit conflict while trying to add something about deletion review myself. The only thing I was going to add was something on a more positive note since my original comment was more negative than I'd intended. Deletion review should be used if you have significant new information - eg newly discovered reliable sources on either of the topics. If such information can be found, I wouldn't oppose recreation of the articles. GDallimore (Talk) 15:46, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just letting you know that although you closed the above as delete, the article was moved during the AFD and is still alive and kicking here. I'm guessing that what got deleted was a redirect? regards, ascidian | talk-to-me 18:43, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Taken care of. It's still showing as blue-linked but it has now been deleted. Thanks for the heads up TravellingCari 02:06, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two questions re the article deletion: 1. If article has been already tagged for deletion is it useless expanding it, adding references 'cause it gonna be deleted in any case? 2. Is it really a violation to start an article if there are no references in English language but other languages? Thanks. --Numulunj pilgae 11:12, 8 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Numulunj pilgae (talkcontribs)

Nope, you can always improve it. English language sources help, but they are not required. I suggest working on a draft in your sandbox, for example at User:Numulunj pilgae/Mokshan script, and then asking for a review of whether it is notable enough to move back to mainspace. Would you like me to move the original content there for you to work on? TravellingCari 13:49, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Noted. OK, pls move to User:Numulunj pilgae/Mokshan script. If you deem you cannot leave Mokshan numerals as it is pls move it the same way. Thank you. Numulunj pilgae (talk)14:12, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
it's now here where you're free to work on it. The numerals article will be handled by consensus but I will userfy it for you if it's deleted. TravellingCari 14:23, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Carianne! --Numulunj pilgae 14:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Numulunj pilgae (talkcontribs)
You're welcome. TravellingCari 15:20, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tis OK i think I worked out the basic statistics I needed using an existing article and comparing it to the paramters on Jap wiki!! Best The Bald One White cat 13:25, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I knew when I supported your WP:RFA that you knew what you were doing. Heartwarming. Now, if you ever visit the UK, count me in as a free guide. --Rodhullandemu 22:03, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! When I saw the new message alert and then saw in my watchlist it was for an AfD, I was a bit worried. I've been a bit IAR on the "oh for the love of common sense" side of things. There are some that *really* don't need 5 days. I'll definitely consult you for travel ideas the next time I'm in the UK. Have a good evening.TravellingCari 00:23, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All is well with the world again

Whoa I really need my Wikipedia. Thanks for getting me back. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 02:27, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whew! Again, big apologies for interrupting your fix in the first place. I notified the script creator to alert of the bug. Thanks for understanding TravellingCari 02:33, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I've really dealt with deletions but it looks like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Take A Worm For A Walk Week was never actually relisted. I'm not sure but I just wanted to make sure. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:09, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. It appears to be OK now, so either someone fixed it overnight (NYC time) or there was a bug. TravellingCari 11:48, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting

When relisting an AFD, don't forget to comment out or remove the transclusion on the old AFD page. If you relist an AFD early (i.e. before 5 full days have elapsed) then some relisting scripts fail to work. Stifle (talk) 08:19, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, I usually do but I may have missed a couple. Will double check in the future. TravellingCari 11:48, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clayton Hartwig

I wanted to make you aware of this in advance so you aviod any kind of bad blood situtation: I recreated this article as a redirect to the article USS Iowa turret explosion. I did this to preempt any attempt to recreat the Clayton Hartwig article as it was at the time of its AFD. If you disagree with this action, feel free to revert my actions; I will not object. TomStar81 (Talk) 19:26, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...Also, May I link to this page from my talk page? It would reduce the number of csd complainers I get. TomStar81 (Talk) 19:28, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, it's a logical re-direct. It might be worth protecting the re-direct if you think the creator is likely to undo the redirect. Feel free to take the CSD page, I took it from someone -- User:Keeper76, I think. It's fair game for sharing. TravellingCari 02:32, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I apreciate your input on both matters. I do not think that protection of the redirect is nessisary right now, but it may eventually be nessisary if the turret explosion article ends up on the main page. TomStar81 (Talk) 05:52, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

Hello, TravellingCari. As you probably know, we are doing three RfA's to test a new RfA format, and I have been asked to be the second nominee, after Ironholds' is over. He recommended you as a potential nom for me, so I would appreciate if you looked at my contribs and thought as to whether or not you would be willing to nom me. Thanks for your time, Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 02:42, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Erik, thanks for asking. I'll be happy to support you when/if you run because from the interactions I"m aware of, you'd be good with the mop. TravellingCari 02:44, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. Thanks for your future-perfect support! Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 02:46, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Future perfect, LMAO. Especially after my beautiful run-on marathon of a sentence that now I won't fix because it's too funny. Have a good night. TravellingCari 02:51, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Butting in here... Erik, I was considering nomming you soon anyways. Would you like me to nom you? J.delanoygabsadds 03:45, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good articles?

So I know that I shouldn't think of good articleship as a big deal, but... wouldn't it be nice to be one of the relatively few IP addresses entitled to display a on its userpage? (I think only one other IP has started one from scratch, although many may have taken existing articles and improved them to good-article status. And yes, I have registered, but since I started this article as an IP, I'm going to finish it as an IP.)

Speaking of good articles, there are a bunch of items that need to be improved to WP:GA status that require a higher level of skill. This one comes to mind as being an especially timely topic. I know that in the grand scheme of things, WP:GA is not a big deal, but for some reason I think it to be important.... 69.140.152.55 (talk) 03:00, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
