Chorley railway station is now linked with its "interchange" bus and coach station, which for this small Lancashire market town is a significantly sized venture.
The railway staion is a modern 1980s design with two platforms connected by an underpass. A level crossing, no longer in use, is still in place at the station entrance. Former franchise holder First North Western used Chorley for its Blackpool to Euston services but these were discontinued. Chorley is now a link between the commuters of Lancashire and Manchester and Bolton.
The small villages which form part of the borough of Chorley, such as Adlington, Blackrod and Euxton all have railway stations, with Euxton the youngest in Lancashire.
