Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species is the first of the Zoo Tycoon 2 expansion packs (The others are Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure and Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania). It gives the player 20 new endangered animals such as the Caribou and the Koala, Sky Trams, Jeep Rides, Elevated Path and some new campaigns.

Graphical Enhancements

Endangered Species introduces some much needed graphics updates and patches. Playes can make the water in Zoo Tycoon 2 reflective by setting the water detail to "very high". The expansion also introduces a new feature called 'variant skins', i.e., not all animals of the same species look exactly the same. For example, when adopting a Bengal tiger, the player might get a different texture, such as a white tiger. Trees, food and all of the 2D objects in the original game have been updated to be 3D.

New Tour Possibilities

With the addition of this expansion pack, the player can create a Jeep Wrangler or Commander tour through the zoo's exhibits. The new sky tram routes allow the guests to get a bird's eye view of the animals, without making them disturbed. Elevated paths allow visitors to walk right above the exhibits, giving a very good view of the animals, and even allow food courts to be built above enclosures. Both the elevated paths and sky trams will give the guests a good view of the animals, while still keeping their privacy levels content.

Animals

Endangered Species has 20 brand new animals from around the globe. The expansion focuses on endangered animals like the orangutan and giant sable antelope. Zoo Tycoon 2's first expansion, Endangered Species updates some of the animal behaviors. For example, some more simple herding behaviors were added (more advanced herding and pack behavior came out in Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure) and animals can no longer breed with their siblings and parents. The animal models and skins are also more realistic than the animals from the original game. The animals are:

The koalas eat eucalyptus, a new food in the game and other animals, such as crested gibbons and American bison, eat berries.

Bugs/Glitches

The Galapagos tortoise crashes for some players when it is adopted, and so far for those it occurs to there is no known fix. In the trial version, when one places water, the game occasionally terminates. On the occasion the player has too little memory, this error message flashes infront of one's face: 'You need at least 32 MB of video memory to run Zoo Tycoon 2. (0 MB detected.)'The Need RAM Video cards not strong enough to run the program cause another message: 'Unable to get video memory size from DirectDraw 1800MHz, 1280MB' If one has not met the graphical requirements, there are more errors: 'Zoo Tycoon 2 does not support the your graphics adaptor graphics card.'

However, for those who can suceed in avoiding all bugs, there are some very impressive results.

New stuff

• Features - Endangered Species includes many ways to get to the animals without disturbing them. These include, Jeep tours, sky trams and elavated path. Jeep tours were originally included in Endangered Species, but are available in African Adventure too.
• New animal & guest behavior - Markhor in the game can climb trees. The young Gray wolf will also beg their parents to recruit it in their pack, Koalas will below others and nurse their joeys on the trees, children will also pretending to be an animals, and adults will dance at music rock
• Endangered Species is the first expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2.
• Variant skins - Some animals like Bengal tiger, Cheetah,American bison, Jaguar, Zebra, Spanish lynx, Markhor, Moose, Snow leopard and African wild dog, will have variant skins that means when you adopt few jaguars some will have stranger and bigger spots like others - Different animals.
• Zoo Tycoon 2 Update - When you install the Endangered Species you will have updated Zoo Tycoon 2 also with three new animals like Black leopard, Musk ox and Asian elephant and with bunch of new buildings and challenges.
• New scenarios and challenges - Prepare to taste awesome new challenges and scenarios about rare animals.
• Zoo 's Beautification - This expansion does not only bring rare animals but also rare trees and plants like bur oak, sydney blue gum, golden barrel cactus and big bluestem, with new Endangered Species theme buildings and other new buildings you will be more than a Zoo Tycoon. To make these endangered animals happy you can place them new food such are berries and eucalyptus, new shelters like burrows and new enrichment object like tire swing and feeder ball .
