Álex Ubago (born January 29, 1981 in Vitoria-Gasteiz ; born Alejandro Martínez de Ubago Rodríguez ) is a Basque singer and songwriter .

Live and act

At the age of four, Ubago moved with his parents to San Sebastián , where he still lives today. His professional singing career began at the age of 14 when the manager Íñigo Argómaniz discovered him and in 2000 helped him to a contract with the Spanish music producer Jesús Gómez .

Álex studied business administration , but ultimately didn't finish it. He plays guitar and piano and is considered a good pool player .

In September 2000 Ubago's first album ¿Qué pides tú? (Eng .: What do you ask for?), which sold well in Spanish-speaking countries. Over 700,000 copies were sold and the album was then awarded platinum seven times . The love ballad "Sin miedo a nada" (German: Don't be afraid of anything) was voted the most beautiful love song of all time by the website los40.com .

With his second album "Fantasía o Realidad" (Eng .: Fantasy or Reality), which was released about two years later, Ubago was able to build on its success and went on a European tour.

After three years in which he did not publish any new songs, but gave concerts and produced live albums all over the world, his new album "Aviones de cristal" (English: glass planes) was released in the summer of 2006.

In July 2007 he was a finalist in the "Orgullosamente Latino" in three categories: Best Album (Aviones de cristal), Best Song and Best Video Clip (Viajar Contigo), but ultimately won no prize.

In March 2009 he released his fifth studio album, Calle Ilusión, which entered the album charts at number eight in Spain. He also traveled to Latin America and the USA to market his album.
