Álvaro Novo Ramírez (born May 16, 1978 in Córdoba ) is a former Spanish football player . He won the Copa del Rey with RCD Mallorca in 2003 .

Player career

The beginnings

A native Andalusian Alvaro Novo began his career as a footballer in the season 1996/1997 the club of his hometown - Córdoba CF . He then went to third division CD Carabanchel , where he was able to convince for the first time with ten goals in 37 games. This was followed by a two-year engagement in the B-team of the first division club RCD Mallorca .

Professional football

In the summer of 2000, Álvaro Novo was promoted to the Mallorcan first-team, where he played for three years. Among other things, twice in the UEFA Cup and once in the Champions League . With Mallorca he won the Copa del Rey in 2003 . After this success he moved to the ambitious league rival Atlético Madrid , where he also had a regular place in his first season. In his first season at Real Sociedad he had a regular place, then there were only ten appearances in the relegation season 2006/07 .
